Cause of Disease

It begins in the B lymphocytes as the abnormal cells proliferate, so they crowd out the normal cells. The various subtypes of CLL exist to affect the other types of cells.

Type-4: Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

This type is rare and is more likely found in adults than children. CML occurs when, due to some genetic change, Myeloid cells get converted into cancerous cells. These then grow slowly and affect the healthy cells in due course in the bone marrow and blood.

Diagnosis of the Disease

There are no screening exams for the disease. Doctors come to know about the problem through routine blood testing. They may also rely on their experience and the existing knowledge of the disease. When the doctor doubts leukaemia, he may recommend the diagnostic tests like blood tests, bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap.
