Efty founders Doron and Lionel launched a pretty creative NFT project – Sketchy Cities

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while then you know I’m a big fan of Efty, I’ve been using the service for years and love it. Along with the service itself, I’m also a fan of Efty’s founders – Doron and Lionel, they’re just good people who truly care about what they’re doing, and are passionate about leveraging new technology.

Since I started as an Efty customer I’ve seen more new features added than I can count and every time I talk to Doron he always shares new ideas they have for future enhancements. So it should come as no surprise that when NFTs started to reach the masses, Doron and Lionel jumped in and got their hands dirty.

The first NFT project from this duo (and something tells me it won’t be the last) is called Sketchy Cities, which they describe as a generative NFT art collection that projects the nitty-grittiness of today’s world onto your screen. The NFTs themselves look like this ⬇️

As I did a deeper dive I was pretty fascinated by the idea behind Sketchy Cities, the team decided to take five different data points and use these to generate the art:

• murder rate
• population density
• air quality index
• internet speed
• corruption index

So the images you see above, they aren’t random, they’re all directly linked to the cities they represent using this data, which is a pretty darn cool idea IMO. The initial launch of Sketchy Cities included 37 cities and 20 have been sold so it’s safe to say they’re likely to sell out.

Of course I had to ask Doron if this could lead to any new innovations at Efty and he let me know that part of the reason him and Lionel embarked on this journey was to learn about efficiencies and transparency within a Blockchain-powered marketplace like OpenSea to get inspiration around some technologies and features they can add to Efty.

Congrats to Doron and Lionel, super interesting idea and I can’t wait to see how some of the lessons learned through this process find their way to Efty!
