Sergey Tokarev Creates the First Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem AI House in Ukraine

Investor Sergey Tokarev creates the first artificial intelligence ecosystem AI House in Ukraine. Leading Ukrainian technology companies and universities will join the project. At the moment, it is already known that Reface, ZibraAI, venture studio Pawa, the polytechnics in Kyiv and Lviv, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, as well as the Ukrainian Catholic University participate in the AI House.

AI House aims at providing modern education for young developers who work with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The project will become a large community of experts and talented newcomers from these areas, as well as a place for new startups to be born.

AI House was initiated by IT investors Sergey Tokarev and Dan Dmitrenko, partners at Roosh, a technology company that will be partially responsible for financing the project.

‘Similar systems are already effectively working in France and Germany. Our project is young yet quite ambitious, and it plans to seize leadership in Europe. A large number of talented developers in our country allows us to count on this,’ says the co-initiator of AI House Sergey Tokarev.

Bogdan Ponomar, who was previously responsible for implementing strategic objectives at Ciklum, became the project’s CEO. He noted that nowadays students in Ukraine study AI only from the third year of study at the university. Many of the students start working after the first year. Therefore, one of the project’s goals is to provide students with the opportunity to develop their own AI projects already in their second year. Therefore, AI House is planning to hold regular offline ML intensive camps, Olympiads, guest lectures from experts, hackathons, as well as launch schools in various areas of machine learning.

According to the project’s co-initiator Dan Dmitrenko, the project will pay special attention to educating students with related disciplines. As speakers, there will be invited specialists from different industries: entrepreneurs, professors, investors, technical workers, and so on. They will share their experience, vision of the process from their point of view, and altogether, they will show a complete picture of the AI world to the students and to each other as well. Thus, AI House is going to be not just an educational project but a platform where experts can share experiences.

The project has already been supported by professor at Cornell & Cornell Tech, Co-Founder and Chief Technologist at Afresh Volodymyr Kuleshov, professor at the University of Toronto, lecturer at the Ukrainian Catholic University and Kyiv School of Economics Olexandr Romanko, Chief Technology Officer at Reface Oles Petriv, Chief Technology Officer at Pawa Borys Pratsiuk, business angel, expert and advisor of several companies and institutions, in particular, the European Commission Alberto Bettell, and businessman, chairman of the Genesis Philanthropy Group Gennady Gazin.

According to Sergey Tokarev, as the first step in creating a new ecosystem, there will be the opening of a free ML school. The organizers promise to tell more details about the educational institution in mid-October.
