Social media has become one of the most popular marketing tools for business, organization, or professional niches. Billions of people use social media, and that alone makes it a viable platform to promote and market anything.

This is why it isn’t a surprise that social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are used for Law Firm Marketing. While Lawyer SEO is still the more long-term marketing solution, the reach social media can provide shouldn’t be ignored.

That said, here’s a list of social media marketing essentials to make the most out of your law firm’s social media:

Tip#1: Know Your Target Audience

Any kind of promotion is most effective when it reaches the right people. Sure, promoting to a general audience gets some eyes on your law firm, but the goal of your marketing strategy is to get more clients.

This means you should cater to people who are more likely to be clients, such as:

  • People who live in your State
  • People who need legal advice
  • People who need something your law firm can provide.

Again, it’s great that people from all around the world know about your firm, but those who live in your State are going to be the most likely to seek you out for legal assistance.

Additionally, knowing your target audience also means knowing what types of content they like, what tone of voice appeals to them the most, and which times of day they are most active. As I said, this is to make sure the right people see and respond to your content.

 

Tip #2: Post Regularly

Social media algorithms favor the most active users. So if you’re planning on generating leads via social media marketing, make sure you’re not abandoning your platforms for a week or longer.

The thing is, people will follow you for the content you post. So if you’re not posting a lot, there won’t be a point in following your account in the first place.

So, make sure you keep up with your social media. This not only helps you build your following but it also makes sure you maintain your current followers.

 

Tip #3: Don’t Be Too Promotional

This might sound counterintuitive to the point of creating a social media account to promote your law firm, but if all you’re posting are ads, people won’t be too enthusiastic to follow you.

Again, people follow accounts on social media for content. So make sure you’re still posting high-quality content even when you’re on social media.

For example, you can post short, sweet, and informative legal trivia on Twitter. You can also use your Instagram captions and stories for information.

 

Tip #4: Audit Your Social Media Marketing Efforts

Not all strategies work. That’s why it’s important to know how well (or poorly) your social media tactics are working.

Try looking at your stats and see how you’re doing. Is your current content getting the attention it needs? Are some types of content doing better than others? Did something happen when you changed up your style and tone?

Luckily, you can extract enough data on social media to gauge these metrics, such as:

  • Number of followers
  • Percentage of increase in followers
  • Best performing posts
  • Worst performing posts
  • Number of clicks to your landing pages
  • Total number of likes

Knowing which aspects of your social media marketing campaign work and which don’t will help inform you on which strategies to keep doing, which you need to stop doing, and which you need to change.
