Drafting New Content Ideas for 2022 in Influencer Marketing

But coming up with ideas for content that an audience will love can be really challenging for business owners, and it’s no joke. 1. Draft a Marketing Persona

A persona is an imaginary profile representing groups of similar people in your target market. When you draft a persona for your target audience, you’ll have ideas on the kinds of content that’ll suit them. For example, Instagram influencers might take the tack of creating educational content around “how to be an Instagram influencer” as their audience is likely wanting to know how to also step into that game.

You’ll be able to deliver the right message and speak to your customers on a more personal level. Without a persona, you may find yourself guessing what your audience wants and providing information that doesn’t offer them value.

Personas are especially useful if your business offers a wide range of products or services for different kinds of people. You’ll also need a persona if your product or service can benefit people in various industries or different age groups. You don’t want to find yourself constantly creating content that’s only suitable for one section of your market.   

2. Get Inspiration From Your Audience

‘Asking’ is probably the oldest trick in the book of content marketing, yet, many people don’t leverage this strategy. Since you know who you want to create content for, ask them what they want. For example, in influencer marketing, the audience is key. Influencers can easily create polls that ask their audience what they want out of the channel for 2022, for example.

You can post a question on your social media profile and observe your followers’ responses. You will likely get open-ended replies which you can streamline into content topics. Alternatively, create a poll and list possible topics you think your audience will be interested in.

Another way to get content topic inspiration from your target audience is by checking their social media pages. Click on some of your followers’ profiles and find out what they’re talking about. Check out their photos and tweets, and take note of the brands they interact with.

You can also revisit your older posts and review the comments section. Pull concepts from the feedback and use them as titles for a new piece. Remember to tweak some of the words to make your topic SEO-friendly.      

3. Look at the Competition

Find out what top pages in your industry are creating content about and see what’s working for them. You probably have a similar target audience, so what works for them might work for you as well. Of course, the idea here isn’t to plagiarize or steal their work. Simply use their concepts and titles to generate ideas.

When looking through a competitor’s page, take note of the topics you haven’t yet covered on your website. Take your own content a step further by making it better than theirs. For instance, if your competitor’s blog provided five tips to readers, top their list by giving ten on the same subject.   

4. Ask Google

If you already have an idea of what you want to write about, for example, “How To Become a Best Selling Author,” try searching for it on Google. Look at the topic suggestions that come up in the search query when you type a part of your topic. Such suggestions are potential topics to cover in your next piece, and they’ll likely be SEO-friendly since you got them from Google.

Also, use the ‘related searches’ section at the bottom of your search engine result page. The information you see there can help you come up with a topic. If you’re completely blank on ideas and unsure what to type in the search query to generate suggestions, begin with content titles you’ve already covered. This would be a great strategy if your previous content performed highly in terms of helping you achieve your content marketing goals. The suggestions you get will likely resonate with the same kind of audience that enjoyed your previous content.  

5. Use a Topic Generator Tool

You can leverage topic generator platforms to help you get ideas for your next content. Topic generator tools are usually easy to use and require you to type in some keywords you want to include in your piece. You’ll see a list of potential topic ideas for your next content. Of course, you can tweak the results you find to make the topic suitable.

You can use content idea generator tools like Answer the Public, Impact’s blog title generator, and HubSpot’s blog topic generator. When using such tools, it’s essential you select the right keywords relevant to your brand and target market. For that, you can use Google keyword planner.
