Twitter has a vast user base, an intuitive design, and engaging user culture. Hence, many businesses and firms have used it to implement social media marketing strategies.

You could find marketing profiles from about every industry—beauty, health, lifestyle, legal services, etc. For example, you might have already run into a law firm or a lawyer’s Twitter profile and have seen what could be done to generate law firm leads.

That said, social media marketing is more than just starting an account and expecting ROI to come in immediately. Although a fairly accessible content strategy, it still requires time and effort to yield significant ROIs for law firms.

So, if you’re just starting out, let’s look at some of the most crucial do’s and don’ts of law firm marketing on Twitter:

Do: Plan Your Profile

Make sure to set up your Twitter profile before even posting. You should have a great profile picture, a clear and concise Twitter bio, pertinent information, links, and location. The goal is to get your followers to engage with your law firm outside of Twitter, so link your law firm website in your bio.

 

Don’t: Use Inconsistent NAPs

Your NAPs (name, age, phone number) indicated in your bio should be consistent with the ones you have posted online. For example, your NAPs should match the one on your website, Google My Business account, Yelp profile, and so on.

 

Do: Post High-Quality Content

Don’t just post random things on your law firm’s Twitter page. Instead, go for something informative or interesting—basically anything that might be valuable to your audience. And since this is Twitter, you must also pay attention to that character limit.

 

Don’t: Ignore Keywords And Hashtags

When you start out, you won’t have a lot of followers (or any at all). So, make sure your content reaches as many people as possible. In addition, many users filter the content they consume through the search bar, which allows them to find Tweets mentioning keywords and hashtags.

Use this to your advantage while getting through the most challenging point of building a following.

 

Do: Post Consistently

Followers expect more content from you. Otherwise, there isn’t a point in following you if you’re not posting anything new. So, make sure you’re posting consistently on top of creating high-quality content.

Remember, you want your audience to stick around for more. So not posting for weeks isn’t the best way to go about it.

 

Don’t: Post In Bulk

Not everyone’s going to be online at the same time. If you’re posting things in bulk, you might end up burying a few older Tweets too fast. Remember, you want people to get new content from you, but you also ideally want people to see each post.

 

Do: Audit Your Twitter Marketing Performance

Check up on your performance every now and then! Look at which posts perform best and see if you can replicate their success. Likewise, look for the worst-performing posts and see what you can change to do better next time.

Remember, auditing is a major digital marketing step for a reason. You don’t want to rely on luck, so make an informed move by looking into and comparing your overall performance.

 

Don’t: Be Afraid Of Changing Strategies

If something doesn’t work, don’t be afraid to stop doing it. Sometimes, some types of content and tactics won’t work for you, even with tweaks and regular audits. Of course, you’ll want to test it out or refresh your strategy, but remember that you can always stop if nothing seems to work despite alterations.
