Alejandro Irarragorri: "At Orlegi Sports, the Person Comes First and Then the Player"

Recognized for his outstanding commitment to the comprehensive development of young soccer players, businessman Alejandro Irarragorri has expressed his admiration for those talents who opt for a complete formation, balancing their sports careers with their academic education. “I want to recognize the effort and dedication of young promising soccer players who have opted for a total formation and have sought a balance with soccer, that decision requires maturity and will, because discipline is needed to continue with their development on and off the fields,” reflected the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orlegi in a loud voice during a graduation ceremony of the Orlegi College.

Colegio Orlegi, an educational institution backed by Grupo Orlegi and recognized by the Ministry of Education, emerges as a manifestation of the commitment of the group led by Alejandro Irarragorri to the human and professional development of soccer players beyond their performance on the field. This school is based on three alternative projects: a third high school in coordination with the students’ schools of origin, a specific virtual high school program, and Program 20 (P2=), designed as a special plan for graduates prior to entering university.

The commitment of Alejandro Irarragorri and his team to social transformation through sports is materialized in initiatives such as the Orlegi School. During the year 2023, under the direction of businessman Alejandro Irarragorri and his management team, more than 80 students who completed their high school education received awards, highlighting success stories of students who are part of the basic forces and various categories of Club Santos Laguna and Atlas FC.

Alejandro Irarragorri, in his constant support to young people, encourages them to pursue their dreams with determination: “Do not stop dreaming and do not stop fighting to fulfill your dreams, because the road is just beginning and this success is the gateway to new challenges”. Recognizing the importance of the role of parents in the development of their children, Irarragorri is grateful for their trust and commitment to the educational project of Colegio Orlegi, where personal growth is prioritized over sports performance: “Here the person comes first and then the player”.

In his work to foster a culture of values, Irarragorri praises the dedication and passion of the school’s staff, highlighting their contribution to the integral formation of young people. “The passion and vocation of the people who are in the students’ day-to-day lives is a decisive factor in this process. Among the students of Colegio Orlegi, there are outstanding athletes such as Stephano Emmanuel Carrillo Calderón, Tahiel Adrián Jiménez Sánchez, Kevin Yahir García Jiménez, Alejandro Partida Falcón and Edwin Daniel Alvarado Núñez, who have even represented the Mexican National Team in youth categories. These students have demonstrated their ability to balance their soccer career with their studies, showing responsibility and determination to reach their goals and exceed expectations, an achievement that Alejandro Irarragorri celebrates as an example of commitment and academic-sports excellence.
