Britain’s royal family says it is suing the French magazine that published topless photos of Kate Middleton sunbathing.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have begun “legal proceedings for breach of privacy” against the magazine’s publishers, the St. James Palace said in a statement Friday, after calling the publication of the photos “a grotesque and totally unjustifiable” invasion of the young couple’s privacy.Continued below.

The French magazine, Closer, published a five-page spread of photos of what appears to be the Duchess of Cambridge, 30, on vacation, sunbathing, under the headline “Oh My God!” The magazine went on newsstands in France today.
The magazine defended the decision to publish the photos, saying in a statement on its website that the photos would only appear in the French, not the British edition, and were not degrading.

The pictures were reportedly taken while Middleton and Prince William, who celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary in April, enjoyed a mini four-day vacation together last week at a secluded chateau in the south of France before beginning a tour of the Far East and South Pacific to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.

Latest TSA Humiliation: Parents Need Pat-Downs to Pick Up Their Kids

I let a TSA agent grope me the other day — so that I could pick up my son at the airport.
It was utterly humiliating, and it was all in the name of national security.
My 14-year-old son was traveling across the country as an unaccompanied minor. I went to LAX to get him. The airline gave me a “gate pass” to get through security, so that I could meet my son as he walked off the plane.
As I waited in the line, I noticed that the TSA agents were using the so-called body scanner to check passengers.
But I wasn’t a passenger. I wouldn’t be boarding a plane or flying anywhere. I was just going to meet my son. I didn’t even have a carry-on.
“Can’t I just go through the metal detector?” I asked.
“Nope” was the response from the TSA agent. He told me if I didn’t go through the scanner my only option was a pat-down search.
As he told me this, I watched as about a dozen airline employees were allowed to bypass the scanner and walk through the metal detectors. These are people who have direct access to the inside of planes and the tarmac. But somehow they are less of a terrorism threat than a father coming to meet his son, who won’t even get to the jetway.
Now, a point of information. I’m somewhat squeamish about the risk of radiation unless it’s for a medical test. I’m aware that the body scanners used by the TSA are banned in Europe because of fears about the radiation they emit. The TSA says the equipment is safe, but there’s a debate over that.
That’s why I opt out of the scanner.
“Spread your legs the length of your shoulders,” the TSA agent barked.
He then proceeded to inform me that he would be performing a full pat-down and that he would be using the back of his hand to touch sensitive areas, such as my groin and buttocks.
As if it’s somehow less invasive if a stranger touches your private parts with the back of his hand!
“I have something to tell you,” I responded. “All I have on is a bathing suit and a t-shirt, and the bathing suit is wet.”
I’d spent a few hours at the beach before coming to the airport. I just felt I needed to let him know.
“No problem,” he said, putting on his gloves.
The next step was an extremely thorough pat-down search that would have been considered close to “going to third base” if we were in high school.
After that humiliation, I was allowed to walk to the gate.
When the public is forced to finance their life of extravagance, then they are no longer entitled to privacy. They live the life of luxury because they are public figures and they shouldn’t be able to just turn that off whenever they feel like it. If the public wants nude photos of them, then they should be obliged to provide those nude photos. I’m sure millions of people would trade places with either one of them in heart-beat.
