George Zimmerman Walks Free While Paula Deen Suffers: It Isn't Right.
As we all know, George Zimmerman was acquitted of murder charges in the Trayvon Martin death. And Paula Deen has lost her shows, her store products, her reputation.
There is something wrong with that picture.
While I understand that there was not likely enough evidence to convict George Zimmerman of murder, there should be some sort of a stalking law that could be applied to Zimmerman. In my opinion he stalked Martin based upon some sort of prejudging. It may not have been raced based, but Zimmerman made some sort of judgement in deciding to go after Martin while armed.
It does not seem right. As a parent of 4 children I would want NO ONE doing that to my children. It would be a parent’s worst nightmare. There should be a law passed that takes into account Zimmerman’s mental frame of mind, as well as it could be understood, that results in less than a murder charge.
And, I would not want George Zimmerman in my community. Period!
So, we come to Paula Deen. Paula Deen’s punishment does not fit her “crime”. She was robbed at gunpoint, while working at a bank over 30 years ago, and called the robber the N word. She has been forgiven by the robber, and the case against her brought by a white lady for racism on her part in her business dealings has been thrown out!
Yet Paula still suffers massive loss. It isn’t right. The punishment for Paula is too severe. Yes, she had some southern gal quirks. But you have to understand when Paula was raised, and it was a long time ago when things were much different in the south. Paula was trusted by many black and white and hispanic women and is still trusted.
Her books still sell off the charts. As long as there is nothing additional lurking in Paula’s closet, she deserves to be reinstated to her businesses as soon as possible.
It is just disturbing to me that George Zimmerman is a free man while Paula Deen’s reputation is shattered.
