China Focus: How Free are Christians in China?
Like most other faiths in China, Christians are persecuted by the perverse Chinese Communist Party.
Christianity is allowed, but Christians have to pledge allegiance to communism over Christianity. Therefore, a fairly large underground church movement exists, and many members are thrown into forced labor camps, either to undergo slave labor or be “brainwashed” into the right way of thinking.
Out of the estimated 80 to 130 million Christians, no one knows how many are underground, though the communist regime pegs the number of Christians at 28.6 million (these are likely the fake Christians).
After one crackdown in April 2011, Sam Zarifi, Amnesty International’s Asia-Pacific Director, said “the gloves are off.”
“There’s no question that the Chinese authorities are sending all signals to their own citizens — and overtly to the U.S. and the outside world — that they simply will not tolerate any group that is not just critical, but does not directly obey the Chinese communist party’s control,” he added.
