Chinese Contagion ??? (UPDATED)

H749 an avian influenza a subtype not previously transmitted to humans has spread to another province in the Yangtze River Delta. Zhejiang health officials announced on 4.3.13, two new human cases, one of them fatal. Although the source of the infection is not known the health commission has listed poultry workers as the high risk group. Zhejiang’s health department has said, “So far no epidemiological connection has been found between the two cases.” The new cases bring the total to nine including three deaths and six patients in critical condition.

Update :

A fourth person has died of human H7N9 avian flu infection in China and another person is in hospital after contracting the virus, Chinese health officials announced on Thursday. Bringing the death toll to four and the total number of reported cases of humans infected with the virus to 11.
