Half a Million People Sign Anti-Organ Harvesting Petition (You Can Too)
People from all over the world are standing up against the cruel practice of organ harvesting in China.
Hundreds of thousands have signed a petition urging the United Nations to do something about it.
The petition, started by the group Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH), aims to help stop organ harvesting from innocent Falun Gong practitioners and other people imprisoned for their beliefs in China. These prisoners of conscience are killed on demand to supply organs for transplants.
This has been going on since around the year 2000, which is about the time when the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute the spiritual discipline Falun Gong. DAFOH’s petition asks the UN to demand that China cease organ harvesting immediately.
It also urges the UN to “initiate further investigations that lead to the prosecution of the perpetrators involved in this crime against humanity” and “call upon the Chinese government to immediately end the brutal persecution of Falun Gong, which is the root cause for the forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners,” according to their website.
DAFOH announced on Oct. 1 that they had collected signatures from more than 447,498 people from 33 countries. They plan to continue collecting them until Nov. 30.
“Even though we may not get the end of forced organ harvesting, we may see them further open up and curtail what’s going on,” said Damon Noto, DAFOH’s spokesperson, according to the Epoch Times. “The intent is to have pressure brought on China from many angles: the UN, the international transplant community, the medical community, and hope that the total of all these forces putting pressure will see some change.”
