We Vowed “Never Again,” But It’s Happening Again Right Now

After millions of people were killed in the Holocaust, a memorial was built at Dachau Concentration Camp that said “Never Again” in five languages.  It meant, of course, that such a terrible persecution must never happen again in this world.

Unfortunately, kindhearted people are not always in control of what will or won’t happen again.

This time it’s not happening to Jewish people in Europe, but to Falun Gong practitioners in China.  For 15 years now, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has cruelly persecuted this meditation practice, oppressing tens of millions of people and killing thousands.

Widely popularized in the 1990s, Falun Gong contains five simple exercises and is based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.  By 1999, there were over 70 million people practicing it in China.

These peaceful principles were in direct contrast to violent communist principles, and the CCP was jealous of anything more popular than itself.  In 1999, CCP officials launched a massive campaign, imprisoning thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in forced labor camps and spreading false news to denounce the practice and try to justify the persecution.

Concentration camps held tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners, many of whom were killed on demand to supply organs for transplants in hospitals.  The CCP attempted to keep this “living organ bank” a secret from the outside world, but over the years more and more evidence leaked out.

Falun Gong practitioners in China and all over the world have spent the past 15 years raising awareness of the persecution, with the result that there are fewer and fewer people who still believe the CCP’s outlandish lies.

The international community has condemned the persecution.  Governments in many countries have passed resolutions demanding that China stop the practice of organ harvesting.

For example, Italy recently passed a resolution that takes steps against organ harvesting and urges the Chinese government to release all Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience.

With the CCP’s diabolical power and secrecy, the international community could do nothing to prevent this crime.

Now that we know about it, however, it’s clear what we have to do: stop it, and make sure that it really does happen “Never Again.”
