How the Brainwashing Industry Rakes in Cash

Since China’s labor camp system closed last year, the illegal persecution, torture, and brainwashing of Falun Gong practitioners has continued unabated in brainwashing centers.

Like the labor camps, these centers need funding for their crimes. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) uses taxpayers’ money to fund the facilities, but the system is also open for staff members to line their pockets through unethical means.

Adherents of Falun Gong, the spiritual group most heavily persecuted by the CCP, often have to foot the bill for their own torture, according to human rights website Minghui.org. They, their families, or their employers are forced to pay “education fees,” “living expenses,” and even “force-feeding fees” for practitioners who go on hunger strikes to protest their maltreatment, the website reported.

These fees are not officially registered or recorded, and they likely go directly to individual staff members.

Another source of revenue is government awards given to the centers for each practitioner they are able to “transform,” or force to give up their beliefs. This has encouraged staff to use cruel and clever methods for transforming people, including threats to family members or prolonged torture.

Inflated medical expenses are often charged to family members after victims become sick or injured from the torture, Minghui.org reported.

The result? Brainwashing centers not only get funded; they make a killing.

“Since the centers control practitioners’ terms of detention and can refuse to release them until the fees are paid, the practitioners’ families usually have no choice but to give in,” Minghui.org stated.
