Fake Exhibit Spreads Communist Propaganda in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, there is a group with a deceptively innocent name: the Hong Kong Youth Care Association (HKYCA). In reality, the group’s purpose has nothing to do with caring for youth and everything to do with spreading communist propaganda in Hong Kong—including helping the Chinese communist regime persecute a peaceful spiritual group.

The HKYCA has recently been setting up an exhibit in Hong Kong to slander and discredit Falun Gong, a Chinese meditation discipline that has been brutally persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Each weekend for the last few months, HKYCA members have been setting up an exhibit where they pose as Falun Gong practitioners, play funeral music, wear mourning clothes, and shout loudly, The Epoch Times reported. These behaviors are not characteristic of real Falun Gong practitioners, who can typically be seen exercising in parks together (if they’re outside China, safe from persecution) or peacefully raising awareness of the persecution.

Falun Gong includes five slow-moving exercises, one of which is a sitting meditation, and is based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) uses propaganda to try to justify its campaign of imprisoning, torturing, and killing those who practice Falun Gong in China. The HKYCA, which is backed by the CCP, helps carry out this deception.

Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong set up information sites to tell the public about the persecution and about the benefits of Falun Gong. The HKYCA has been disrupting these sites since 2012.

Although Falun Gong practitioners and other people have reported the HKYCA’s harassment and public disturbances to the police many times, the police have been lenient, showing favoritism to the pro-communist group, The Epoch Times reported.

When people complained about the loud noise the HKYCA was making, the police asked the group to reduce the volume of their loudspeakers, but the HKYCA soon resumed the volume, according to The Epoch Times.

There have been many other incidents over the years of the HKYCA disrupting Falun Gong events.

For example, the HKYCA has been known to cover up Falun Gong banners with banners that slander Falun Gong. The Epoch Times reported that the HKYCA was paid by the Chinese regime to shout verbal abuse and make threatening gestures at a Falun Gong parade in April 2017, and a HKYCA member threatened Falun Gong practitioners with a large butcher’s knife in 2012.
