Cardinal Burke Visits Our Irish Apostolate

On September 12, His Eminence Raymond Cardinal Burke offered Pontifical Low Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Limerick, where the Institute offers Holy Mass each Sunday. The Lassus Scholars sang motets for this beautiful Liturgy at which His Eminence was assisted by the Canons and seminarians of the Institute, as well as clergy and servers from the local area.

That same afternoon, Cardinal Burke came to the Institute’s residence near the city of Limerick at St. Joseph’s House in Granagh. His Eminence blessed the new house chapel, where the faithful can attend the daily celebration of Holy Mass, and the large statue of Saint Joseph in the house garden. A good number of the Limerick faithful came for this event, as well as friends from the local clergy of the Limerick diocese.

Excerpt from the sermon of His Eminence, Cardinal Burke, for the Pontifical Low Mass offered at St. Patrick’s in Limerick:

It brings me the deepest joy to be able to celebrate the Holy Mass, according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, in Limerick. Because of my strong family bonds with the Church in Ireland and my long friendship with the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, I have looked forward to the time when I would be able to visit you and offer the Holy Mass for you. In my love of the Church in Ireland and in my high esteem of the Canons of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, I have desired to encourage and support, in every way possible, the apostolate of the Institute in Ireland. Celebrating the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for you who are the direct beneficiaries of the apostolate, I express heartfelt gratitude to you for your faithful and generous support of the Institute and encourage your continued active participation in the apostolate, for the salvation of your souls and for the building up of the Church in Ireland . . .

Be assured that I pray every day for the apostolate, confiding it, in particular, to the intercession of Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland; Saint Patrick, Apostle of Ireland; and Saint Frances de Sales, the principal patron of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest.
