Christian’s Bullied by Military

A military chaplain recruiter, Douglas Lee of Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, recently told The Washington Times that growing hostility within the military to religious freedoms has made it harder and harder to find chaplains willing to serve our brave servicemen, leaving them without the necessary and important spiritual guidance they need and deserve.

Throughout America, Christian families are showing concern over allowing their children to join the military because of the increasing hostility.

Christians are leaving the military and refraining from joining after growing hostility towards religious freedom. In recent years incidents of anti-Christian discrimination have grown within the military. There have been reports of servicemen being rebuked for having a Bible on their desk, expressing their beliefs in blogs and other forums, distributing Chick-fil-A at a promotion event, and even stories of men being denied promotion because of their beliefs. Recently a chaplain was threatened with discipline after he was accused of failing “to show tolerance and respect” in private counseling sessions in regards to issues pertaining to faith, marriage and sexuality, specifically homosexuality and pre-marital sex. Not only is this bigotry allowed but is becoming condoned by the government.

Last year, Senator John Fleming, from Louisiana, tried to introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would have guaranteed military members the right to believe as they wish and to express their beliefs. This amendment proved necessary after the Pentagon’s began meeting with anti-Christian activists. During the meetings, Pentagon leaders assured an atheist organization the military would prosecute members who shared evangelized. The Pentagon said sharing your faith is allowed, but proselytizing is not. But what’s the line between sharing and proselytizing? The military doesn’t even seem to know.

This important amendment died in the Senate after the Obama Administration urged it’s rejection, and anti-Christian discrimination remains within the military.
