7. The early Christians had NO IMAGES
Early Christian writers such as Irenaeus, Clement, Cyprian, Athanasius and Jerome wrote strongly AGAINST images, statues and any manner of prayer or veneration regarding them. The Council of Constantinople in 381 A.D. voted unanimously to remove all images from the Churches.
8. The Catholic Church removes the second Commandment against MAKING graven images from the list of the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:1-17. This presents them with the problem of only having 9 Commandments. They resolve this problem by splitting Commandment number 10 into 9 and 10. That is: 9. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife. 10. You shall not covet your neighbour’s goods. The following is seen in the book “A brief summary of the Ten Commandments” by the Daughters of St. Paul, p.12, 13:

Graven images and idols are either a image of a false god or they are a false god itself. Jesus, Mary, the Angels and Saints are not false gods. Catholics ONLY worship the Blessed Trinity, in which Jesus is the second Person. Mary, the Angels and Saints are in perfect union with God and are given the love, honor, and respect that they are due.

The Lord harshly criticizes false prophets because they assumed the role of soothsayers – so Israel was relapsing into the very thing that the prophets had been commissioned to prevent.
Again, using the bible as a prophesying tool is not traditional Christianity. That is not how God wants us to live. We are not to play God.

The Catholic church has always admitted that it has a problem accepting “Sola Scriptura”, which is the full and final authority of the WHOLE Bible on all matters.
Instead, they prefer Papal encyclicals that bring human reasoning into Biblical interpretation.
Consequently, we have perverted doctrines that mis-lead many Christians.
Only scripture can interpret scripture.

Sola Scriptura is the product of Martin Luther in the 1500′s. It did not exist before then. For 1500 years Christians were Christians without sola scriptura. Catholicism on the other hand was founded by Jesus. So take your pick on whom to follow on this, Jesus or Luther.
Nowhere in the bible does sola scriptura teach sola scriptura: “therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle”. 2 Thess 2:15
Protestantism on the other hand with all its prophesying is the tradition of men, as opposed to the apostles and Jesus.
Catholic doctrine has remained firm for 2000 years. I realize this is not obvious by casual observation, but anyone who cares can do the research. Protestantism on the other hand continually splinters due to disagreements over bible interpretation. To understand a 2000+ year old book you need context and history provides a constant stream of context over the 2000 years.
