The covenant the Book Daniel is talking about is the covenant between Israel and the Palestinian Nation to SHARE Jerusalem. Then things will start moving.

The 7 year period of Jesus Christ confirming the New Covenant was cut short to exactly 3 ½ years when He was sacrifice on the stake.

” in the midst of the week” — midst of or middle of the 7 years i.e. at the 3 ½ year point
“He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, ” (*) see below.
“and for the overspreading of abominations –” due to extreme abominations
“he shall make [it] desolate,” i.e. Jerusalem destroyed in 70 AD
“even until the consummation”, i.e. even until complete destruction
” and that determined” i.e. that decree
“shall be poured upon the desolate”. i.e. and that decree shall be poured them

Clearly there will be a covenant between Israel and the Palestinian people. This verse acquaints us to what will happen in the beginning of the 70th week, the middle, as well as the end of the 70th week.
In the beginning he (antichrist) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week.
The Jewish nation will make a covenant with the surrounding nations, and it will be sanctioned by the antichrist. The Jewish nation will deem the covenant as crucial to ensure a lasting peace. The covenant spoken of here is not the old covenant with Moses that is known by its weaknesses. Heb. 7:18 Confirming that agreement means to implement it and make it valid. It is an agreement between the Palestinians and Israel. Both parties will sign and all they need is paper. Jerusalem has a great religious sentiment for both the Jews and the Palestinian people. Jer. 7:30; 16:18 & 32:34 During the time of Antiochus Epiphanus, the Jews were forced to embrace the Greek Gods. Jerusalem will be besieged and they cannot flee the city.
At the end of the 70th week the Baltic States, Russia and many other nations will invade and destroy the land of Israel.
