-Pope Surprises Media: The Church is not Changing

Pope Francis in a press conference confirmed what most Catholics and Christians already know. The church is not changing just because the culture is.

The Pope was asked about the ordination of women priest. The implication was that surely the church would change its policy on this issue. But the media’s favorite Pope refused to go along on this issue. From the PJ Media:

Pope Francis said on Tuesday he believes the Roman Catholic Church’s ban on women becoming priests is forever and will never be changed, in some of his most definitive remarks on the issue.

He was speaking aboard a plane taking him back to Rome from Sweden, in the freewheeling news conference with reporters that has become a tradition of his return flights from trips abroad.  …

My favorite part of this is where the reporter is incredulous at the fact that the Roman Catholic Church isn’t moving in a certain direction just because the media would like it to.  …

Response: Ordination of women is just one of the issues, along with abortion, homosexuality, transgender identity, and same-sex marriage, that the media and cultural activists are demanding that the Roman Catholic Church change their views on. In this case the media’s favorite Pope declined and the press was shocked. It shows that the media really doesn’t have a clue when it comes to religion and the culture.

Liberal churches which have divorced themselves from the Bible are changing along with the culture. But churches which still believe in the authority of the scriptures will not be making those same changes regardless of the demands and incredulity of the press and activists.

If real persecution and government interference and opposition actually comes, like Hillary Clinton seems to be supporting, then some may abandoned the faith once delivered to the saints.

In this case it is the Catholic Church which is the focus in this account. Actually if a couple of Popes in a row supported some of those changes, including ordaining women priests, they might actually take place in the Roman denomination. In this situation, Pope Francis was quoting another Pope and standing on church tradition which is far weaker than the Word of God in the Bible.                *Top
