We Will Be God’s Army – January 14, 2017

Today, I was reading the usual scriptures with my mother: Psalm 37, 91, and Isaiah 60.  I was led to read Joel 2, a little bit of Luke 22 where we had a bookmark, and then Revelation 4-6 to see where we are in God’s timeline.

I found a theme in all that we read that declared God’s plan to glorify His children and give them great powers.  One of the key words that linked these scriptures together was “darkness”.  Psalm 37 reminded us that evildoers will soon be cut down like grass and to delight ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our hearts.  Psalm 91 assured us of God’s protection while the wicked get their reward.  We always read the beginning of Isaiah 60 because we want to be among those upon whom God’s glory will arise.

Isa 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

These verses give us a point in a timeline on God’s calendar that depicts a time when deep darkness is upon the people.  At that time, God will glorify at least some of His believers, perhaps those whom He has readied.

People here called Gentiles will come to us because we are transformed.  Gentiles simply mean those that are not Israel.  See:

After we finished reading a portion of Isaiah 60, I checked one of the bookmarks and read some of Luke 22 until I got to verse 53.

I perked up when I saw the mention of the power of darkness.  I was then led to read Joel 2 because I remembered that we who are glorified are the army described there.  Here again, we read that the time is pinpointed as one of darkness.

When we are glorified and enlisted into God’s army, we will be a people so mighty in the power of the Holy Spirit that the world will be flabbergasted by us.

Joe 2:11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

The army will be unstoppable.  It appears as though we will also be rescuing people by breaking into their houses.  Perhaps we will be going to minister to our near relatives.  Take note that the sun and moon will be dark and the question about who can abide the day of the Lord.

After discussing Joel 2 and the last part that Peter quoted on the day of Pentecost about God pouring out His spirit upon all flesh, I wondered where we might be on the timeline in the book of Revelation.  We started with chapter 4, which is right after the letters to the churches.  I told my mom that some believe that the open door in Heaven and John being caught up into it, is believed by some as describing the rapture.

We discussed the Father on the throne, and the Lamb that was slain and then began to look into the scroll with the seven seals.  As the Lamb opened each seal, we wondered if the events were already happening.  When we got to the horse whose rider has a scale in his hands, we remembered how a loaf of bread used to be 59 cents and is now $4.00.

We went into detail about the fifth seal describing the Christians around the world who are being martyred for their testimony.  I told her about how it is happening in Syria, Iraq, and China, as examples.

Finally, we reached the sixth seal, which is attended by a great earthquake.

Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

We are sure that these events of the sixth seal have not happened yet.  We were left with the awesome clue that the day of the Lord question was the same.  Who shall stand versus who can abide it?  We have concluded that somewhere around the time that the last martyred saint is killed and the earthquake, or perhaps simultaneously, some of us will be glorified and go about doing great and mighty works.

We can tie these scenarios in with the message from Father God on the three days of darkness.  While all these natural disasters are happening, some of God’s children will be superhuman and able to skip over mountains to minister to loved ones and strangers worldwide.  Gentiles will be drawn to our light and bring God’s praises and gifts to us.

Altogether, we should get ready for glorious times.  Please pray for those whom God has prepared for this gift of grace.  Whether you are one who is glorified or not, may not matter, if you also pray that God will send one of them to you and your neighborhood.  Although the times will be very dark and rather scary, you need to keep your faith in God and He will surely deliver you.  Remember all of Psalm 91, which ends with God showing you His Salvation!
