Angles for this Time of Year

I just wrote an email this morning to a friend explaining to this person that my Angels came to me at Thanksgiving.  And I think of this time between Thanksgiving and Christmas as a time when people believe in Angels.  I won’t suggest this is true of ALL people.  But generally speaking it is a time for miracles.  It is a time for believing.  It is almost what some people say is a very magical time of year.  I won’t suggest this is true for everyone, simply because there are people who don’t believe in this time of year as does most of Christianity.  I understand this perfectly.  And if you have been reading what I have been writing for the past nine years on this blog, then maybe you have some kind of belief, or maybe you are just curious.  Either way, at least for me, this is a time of year for Angels.  And I think this is true for many Believers.  And even if you don’t believe, I want to think that most everyone wants to believe that Santa is real.  And that kind of belief adds to the magic of the season.  So, I guess I could say that for a lot of people, it is a magical time of year.  It is a time for expectations. 

Now, I have written in this blog a date of Jesus’ birth that was actually in the Spring.  There were no carolers.  There was no snow.  There were no Christmas trees.  And certainly Santa Claus was a long way from people’s imaginations.  The wise men probably didn’t arrive to see Jesus for at least some six months to over a year.  And the star probably was a nova that remained in the sky for at least a couple of years.  As for anything else we associate with Christmas now was not a part of the birth of Jesus.  And just like then as it is today, not everyone recognized the birth of this new born King.  For a lot of people, His birth was sensationalized by early Christians who put more emphasis on His birth than anyone else.

The point I am trying to make is that Christmas has evolved.  Some say it has evolved into shopping sprees this time of year.  It has evolved into Black Friday where stories try to show a profit for the year.  It’s about commercialism.  It’s about the decorations.  And even for a lot of Christians it’s something that is a time of year that didn’t exist when Jesus was born.  We made it into what it is today.  We have shaped Christmas to our own images about what we think Christmas should be.  And even the date is based on the pagan celebration of the winter solstice on December 21.  December 25 is just an arbitrary date based on the pagan holiday of the winter solstice.   

Call it what you will, I am saying that it’s a time of year for belief in Angels by those who believe in the magic of the season.  My Angels came to me on Thanksgiving night of 1993 and that set in motion for me all the events of the Christmas season of that year and every year since.  I can’t help this for myself, but even still, I know the real date of Christmas, but it’s not fun celebrating that day by myself.  So, I celebrate Christmas with the rest of most of Christianity on December 25.  It is a very special time and I can only hope that the world can see it for what it really means.  Peace.  I am Brother Ralphie writing for my Angels from The Angels of Life Institute.  Brother Ralphie works from his study for the promotion of Peaceful living and inner Peace with God.
