Α. Εἰσαγωγικά

Εἶναι ἄξια προσοχῆς ἡ ἐπισήμανση τοῦ G. Florovsky1 καὶ ἡ γενικὴ συμπερασματική του θεώρηση γιὰ τὴν πορεία τῆς Ἐκκλησίας τῆς Ρωσσίας: «Ἡ ρωσσικὴ σκέψη δὲν πάσχει ἀπὸ τὴν ἑλληνικὴ πιεστικὴ κυριαρχία, ἀλλὰ τοὐναντίον, πάσχει ἀπὸ τὴν ἀσύνετη καὶ μωρὰ διακοπή της ἀπὸ τή συνέχεια των βυζαντινῶν καὶ ἑλληνικῶν παραδόσεων. Τὸ γεγονὸς αὐτὸ τῆς ἐξόδου ἀπὸ τή (βυζαντινὴ καὶ ἑλληνική) διαδοχὴ ἐπέφερε στὴ ρωσσικὴ ψυχὴ μία διαρκῆ καὶ στείρα γοητεία. Διότι ἡ δημιουργία εἶναι ἀδύνατη χωρὶς τις ζωντανὲς παραδόσεις. Ἡ ἄρνηση τῆς ἑλληνικῆς κληρονομιᾶς δὲν μπορεῖ νὰ ἰσοδυναμεῖ σήμερα παρὰ μὲ ἐκκλησιαστικὴ αὐτοκτονία».
