P. Theophil Heimb (1706–1773): Heiligenkreuzer Archivar, Prediger und Theologieprofessor

Der Sammelband Lebenswelt der Zisterzienser. Neue Studien zur Geschichte eines europäischen Ordens, hg. von Joachim Werz, ist im Januar erschienen. Darin schreibt Sprachwissenschaftlerin Gudrun Trausmuth über die Predigten des Heiligenkreuzer Archivars, Seelsorgers und Theologieprofessors P. Theophil Heimb. In ihrem Ansatz von der Welzig-Schule wesentlich geprägt, geht Trausmuth auf die Predigten über Heilige ein, die P. Theophil von 1747 bis 1767 veröffentlichte. 

In ihrem Aufsatz schildert Trausmuth Heimbs Lebenslauf und widmet sich im Anschluss einer sprachlichen Analyse der in Pamphletform veröffentlichten Predigten. Der Cistercienser deutet besonders gern die Vornamen der Heiligen, etwa nach dem Muster, dass aus Augustinus ein Augustus. So wird der Bischof von Hippo “ob er schon an Buchstaben mehrer” noch nobler als der heidnische Kaiser. Trausmuth, die auch als Journalistin für Radio Maria und Die Tagespost bekannt ist, geht ebenso auf die homiletische Dialogizität ein: Rede und Anrede stellen somit stilistische Elemente dar. Heimb benütz, so Trausmuth, auch sprachliche Bilder wie die Schützen- und Künstlermetapher. Generell lässt er die Bildkraft auf seine Hörer wirken. 
In diesem Festschrift-Beitrag  tut sich wiederum ein Fundus an Quellen auf, die Kenntnisse vermitteln, die dank der Forscherdisziplin der Verfasserin zugänglich gemacht werden können. Trausmuth weist abschließend auf Möglichkeiten zukünftiger Untersuchungen hin, etwa Fragen zur Bernhardsrezeption, die aus den im Heiligenkreuzer Stiftsarchiv liegenden Bernhardspredigten vom Barock (1743) bis in die Romantik (1891) beantwortet werden könnten.
