The Fall

Fragile

yellow leaf

dangling

in autumn

skies above,

battling

an invisible

wind

forcibly blown,

precariously

clinging

to swaying

trunk,

and

shivering

branch,

dreading

being forever

alone.

When

you fall,

and fall

you must,

for the seasons

are not long,

with little time

to perfect

life’s sweet song;

let me be

the waiting dust

that you

fall towards,

so that

when you fall

there is a kindly

welcome for you, after all.

I love the autumn, the swirling winds and lashing rains, the vibrant colours and the natural world around about playing out the season that ends in falling leaves and the onset of winter. I wrote the above to explore the fact that falling is an inevitable part of living, and the hope of soft welcomes (mercy) exists, and fruitful homecomings (heaven) await.
