Reflecting: One Year On

One year on, so where has the time gone?

Keeping a distance from the touch of another’s hand

The passing of days quickly sifted like the grains of golden sand.

One year on, where has friendship gone?

Missing the sitting down and chatting the afternoon away.

The comradery of companionship, folded like the empty restaurant tables, neatly away.

One year on, where has the hope gone?

Not gone forever, residing still, in clapping, supporting those healing hands.

Feverishly weaving the fabric of society, drowning in tiers of separation, true goodness stands.

One year on, where have our loved ones gone?

Captain Tom a knight of the realm, walking, leaving an example of true giving.

A legacy of memories, of lives taken too soon, our journey of life, is a celebration of living.

One year on, and one day soon, we will all move on, and this dreadful pandemic will be finally gone!
