St. Catherine of Sweden

St. Catherine was born near the beginning of the fourteenth century to parents Ulfo and St. Bridget of Sweden. At the age of seven, Catherine was sent to the Abbey at Risburgh by her parents and placed under the care of the abbess to receive an education and to build a foundation for her spiritual life.

At the age of 13, Catherine was taken from the abbey and given in marriage to Egard, a German nobleman. Upon meeting Egard, Catherine persuaded him to make a mutual vow of perpetual chastity with her. Catherine and Egard dedicated themselves to the service of God and encouraged each other in works of mortification, prayer and charity.

Around the year 1349, after the death of her father, Catherine accompanied her mother on a pilgrimage to Rome to visit the relics of the Roman Martyrs. The two spent several years living in Rome. In 1373 St. Bridget died and Catherine returned to Sweden with her mother’s body. Two years later, Catherine returned to Rome to promote the cause for her mother’s canonization and to gain approval for a Rule she had written for a group of religious women.

After gaining approval for her rule, Catherine returned to Sweden and became abbess of Vadzstena. Catherine served as abbess of Vadzstena until her death in 1381. During the final 25 years of her life, Catherine was known for her austere lifestyle and her practice of making daily use of the Sacrament of Confession.

St. Catherine was canonized in 1484 by Pope Pius II.

As a response to the gross attempt at disinformation by “CNA – Saint of the Day (Reporter)”, this is our comment:

First: “Catherine died on March 24, 1381, mourned like her mother by the whole of Sweden. In 1484 Innocent VIII gave permission for her veneration as a saint and her feast was assigned to March 22 in the Roman martyrology.” St. Catherine’s feast day is MARCH 22, and NOT! March 24!
Second: “St. Catherine of Sweden (patron saint of protection against abortion and miscarriage) Feast day March 22 ” Did you read well? patron saint of protection against abortion and miscarriage? AGAINST ABORTION AND MISCARRIAGE! Why is this vital quality, has this quality against abortion and miscarriage being omitted by accident? Only God knows.
Third: March 24 is the feast day of St. Gabriel, Archangel, and this date canonically inserted into the Calendar of Saints (by the authentic hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church) makes sense, because St. Gabriel, God’s Ambassador had his most glorious known manifestation down her on earth through the mystery of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary which feast is the next day, March 25.
Lastly: Why those “changes”? the answers are too many for they’d overflow this comment section, but those “changes” are resumed in Daniel 7:25 when describing the actions of the Antichrist: -DRA- “And he shall speak words against the High One, and shall crush the saints of the most High: and he shall think himself able to change times and laws, and they shall be delivered into his hand until a time, and times, and half a time.”
In conclusion to this irrefutable demonstration: CNA – Saint of the Day (Reporter) -either willingly or unknowingly- is a mouthpiece to the Antichrist.
