A Year on from Pandemic

A year on from Pandemic

Remembering those who are sick

Grateful for each small mercy

That helps to soothe this dreadful malady

A dawning realisation of the consequences felt

Of stopping in silence, offering prayers both standing and knelt

A loosening of personal ambition

Letting go of grudges, not saving them for ammunition

An emptying of an inflated ego

Seeking opportunities to be humble, to grow

Grieving for normality

Mourning

A lack of intimacy

Lamenting

The absence of touch

Realising there are those we love so much

Still wearing masks of separation

While glimpsing special moments of inspiration

Engaged in a perpetual dance

Of isolation and distance

Navigating a veil of fear

A dawning awareness of all that is held dear

Now I feel with the passing of days

A change in little ways

I am less tolerant of rudeness

More understanding of weakness

Aware of the importance of relationship

Finding my place on board life’s precious ship

Blest by faith, that sheds upon life a wonderful light

That cements hope, banishing the hopelessness of the darkest night.
