Celebrating Easter in Pandemic

Prayer

Silence, that good friend, a covering of clarity and clear thought

Planted in the midst of pandemic separation, enforced isolation

Contemplating during Easter all that the risen Christ has brought

The noise of conspiracy theory, wildly eroding trust in vaccination

Social media, the newspaper of the insecure, cries foul play, steer clear

Wildly claiming truth in the paranoid, scratching the dirt of delusion

Revealing an arid devoid of hope, creating a climate of mistrust of fear

Sowing seeds of panic, delighting in the destructive nature of confusion.

Prayer

Silence returns, a calming expectation of truth’s dawning realisation

Amidst lockdowns, government guidelines, restricted freedoms…Ascension

A jubilant understanding of the reality of hope, founded on Resurrection

I am grateful for the touch of God’s love, where my heart remains Christian.

I was reflecting upon Easter this year. Though still blighted by pandemic the truth of the Risen Christ speaks loudly to a world distorted by fear and misinformation. What is clear is Christ has truly risen and Alleluia is our eternal anthem! Whatever happens, even things outside of our control, the risen Christ brings hope!
