Memory and Journey

Memory of wonder dawning, when looking upwards

The sky so vast above with trails of white cloud floating seemingly randomly, the heavens a magnificence for the imagination to contemplate, where grace floods downwards

Memory of youthful longings to be older, for time to race away

While now wondering why so quick the passing of each waking day

Memory of ordination, a celebration of being unworthy

A feeling that lingers, welcoming the freeing quality of humility

Memory of prayers said at cold wintry gravesides with tears filling the atmosphere, solemn words boldly, yet gently spoken, uttered to dissipate fear

Bearing hope, creating a soothing feeling of Christ abiding somewhere near

Memory of sacred words whispered upon altars of expectation

Fulfilling the continual voice, calling to the priestly vocation, but firstly remembering being a Christian.

Memory wakes the sometimes dormant hope for eternity

Reminding me why I joyfully continue this exhilarating journey.
