The Revelation Of Our Rock And Foundation

This is the Feast of Trumpets ~ Rosh Hashanah

Do people get revelations from God? Yes they do, yet there are those not meant to receive them and so there are those who choose not to receive them. All of us His children know that we can turn to and open the pages of His word and He can reveal His secrets to us. What He plants in us we can then sow and plant in others.

The True Seed is the word of Jesus Christ who as the Sower, sowed the seed of God’s word. This is the true seed of God, the seed of God is not flesh and blood and so, it is not a seed of men such as a tribe of men which would be carnal thinking if one thinks so; you know thinking that the true seed of God is some tribe somewhere. For the seed of God can be sown in anyone regardless of tribe, nation or tongue. And so as Jesus said, the seed of God is His word, and clearly it is not a seed of men.

Jesus is our rock and foundation, our corner stone and arch, and the chief pillar in the Temple of God.

I hope that you too can say these things of Jesus. Whom do you say He is?

Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ:

“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter (Petros in the Greek), and upon this Rock (Petra in the Greek) I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Mat 16:13-19

“Thou art Peter, and upon this Rock…” Jesus said.

Here we see that we have two words, Petros and Petra from the Greek which are not the same thing, one is a masculine gender word and the other is feminine.

The New Testament was originally written in Greek. In studying the Greek text you will find that the word Peter and the word Rock on which Christ was to build His church, are two separate and distinct words, each having a different meaning. The word Peter in Greek is petros and is of the masculine gender, which means “a piece of rock; a stone; a single stone; movable, insecure, shifting, or rolling.” The word for Rock is petra, which is of the feminine gender, which means “a rock; a cliff; a projecting rock; mother rock; huge mass; solid formation; fixed; immovable; enduring.” The word petra would be used for such things as foundation rock, and bed rock.

Peter was the “little stone” (Petros) using the Greek masculine word sense, whereas Jesus turned to talk about another stone (petra) in the feminine sense when He said “upon this rock will I build my church.” You know the Church of Jesus in the feminine sense is considered to be the Bride of Christ who is also the city New Jerusalem. Hence Jesus was referring to “big hard rock” in terms of large stones and foundations. Now when Jesus told Peter that he was a little stone, it would grow into something big later on in Peter’s spirit and mind. You see Peter come back later telling us something about how that we are the living stones in the Temple of God.

Now as an example between the “little stone” and the bed rock stone such as Jesus was standing on there at that day, the feminine sense of the rock Jesus spoke of, was like the bed rock foundation of the region and great mountain behind Him there at Caesarea Philippi that day. And so He was standing on the bed rock foundation of Mt Hermon in the foreground. And that was the back drop of the scene that day. The mountain that Moses called Sion (not the other Mt Zion in Jerusalem) in Deuteronomy 4:48. Where we read “Sion, which is Mt Hermon.” So envision the back ground of that scene there that day.

“From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is (Mt) Hermon,” Deuteronomy 4:48 This then is the region in which they were that day.

Through Jesus referring to Peter by a name which means little stone, He was comparing Peter’s confession of faith to the bed rock such as He was standing upon. The firm rock and foundation for us is, Peter’s confession “thou are the Christ, the son of the living God.” And so our foundation is built upon this confession, not upon Peter but upon Jesus Christ our true Rock. Believing that He is the Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One Sent of God, and the very son of God. Furthermore in this foundation was something else Jesus said which is this “for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” You see Jesus tells us that no man can come to Him unless the Father draws a man, so God reveals in us that Jesus is His son, and we believe it when it comes to us.

Well this Little Stone you know Peter, grew up into realizing that we are all Living Stones in the house (Temple) of God. The first little stone was Peter and then each one of us. And like that stone that Daniel tells us about in his second chapter, of which like a seed grows in the earth to become a great mountain in the latter days, which we learn is the kingdom of God, each of us grow into becoming a living stone of the Temple of God in Jesus Christ. And it begins with the seed of the word of God that the Sower sowed, which is the word of Jesus Christ. And the word of God the Father is the sub-foundation of the Rock who is Christ. Remember that it is Paul who tells us that we are the Temple of God. Daniel tells us that the stone had been cut out of a mountain without hands, wherein it was cut out by God, and so no man with tools in his hand, cut out that foundation. As Abraham tells us, he saw a city that was built of God and not of men. And so we are the stones of the house that is built upon this foundation, and that stone is Christ, and men still stumble at this. This is the stone rejected of men. And so there is no hire for stone masons in the celestial city of New Jerusalem. God cuts out and fashions the stones of His household. He is the Potter and we are the clay fashioned into living vessels holding the water of life.

Now long about here we should look at what Peter tells us later in time:

“To whom coming, as unto a living stone (Jesus), disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion (not Zion) a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.” 1 Peter 2:4-8

He is still a rock of stumbling and offense to this day. But for us who believe, He is a precious stone, a pearl of great price, and He makes us into stones of His Temple, He can also make us into sparkling gems. Sparkling with the light of heaven and as Daniel says, He can make us shine like the stars.

“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12:3

Now where does all of this bring us to? To a new mountain, and a new city. And it brings us into the heavenly realm of heavenly host. Consider Paul here:

“For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:) But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” Hebrews 12:18-24

And so we come now unto that great and high mountain that Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and John saw, where John saw the heavenly city New Jerusalem from above, descend down upon.

‘And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Revelation 21:2

“And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;” Revelation 21:10-11

At this time you want to be on this foundation, standing upon this new mountain looking up and forwards to the coming of Jesus and the new city New Jerusalem. This is your gem, this stone in which is written Sion that grows like a seed to become a great mountain that fills the earth, which we learn from Daniel grows to become the kingdom of God in the latter days.

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.” Revelation 2:17
