Between the Cracks

Oh, how quickly

seasons change,

autumn embraces winter,

short sleeves rapidly replaced with duffle coats.

Breakfast bowls brimming with warming porridge oats.

A colder wind

sends shivers,

howls greetings.

engaging

new conversations,

floating serenely

across the chattering morning air,

my footsteps walk briskly

towards this new day dawning.

Eventually

succumbing to

humbly kneeling.

Alone In the darkness.

Returning light shines

between the cracks of night,

illuminating,

instructing

the trusting soul at prayer,

heralding

a restoration of the broken pieces,

the smoothing out of the worn lines,

revealing the well-trodden path, to holiness.

For a brief moment

my body is

revelling in

the touch of grace.

A sacred sense,

a gazing upon God’s divine face.

Peace, discovered in surrender.

In abandonment to a heart, compassionate, tender.

Christ, giver and provider, hope for the ages.

Filling with creative wonder, life’s chapters and turning pages.
