Letter from Lethabo Motsume:

“Your article that you posted on 2023/09/02 about a man burnt to death in Atteridgeville, is full of lies. I think you should do a proper analysis and research before instilling hate and divisions between South Africans and Zimbo’s. In fact a few weeks before the incident, two Zimbo’s were caught and beaten up for armed robbery around the same place, this was a different case.
Stop lying please”

Dear Lethabo Motsume

Thank you for your letter. I am not lying. What I am writing is truth. Zimbabweans in Zimbabwe are angry because their people are being killed and burned with tyres in streets of South Africa.

Many Zimbabweans have been killed in Pretoria, Diepsloot, Alexandra and many parts of South Africa. Some have been killed because of xenophobia and scapegoating.

Mob justice and burning people with tyres is evil and demonic. Mob justice is not justice it’s evil and demonic. It’s an aberration from morality and justice.
In Zimbabwe murderers and robbers are arrested by Police and go to court. If found guilty they serve many years in jail and some are sentenced to death.
South Africa is a country with Police, law and order. People who are accused of crime must go to Court and be sentenced by Court if found guilty. What if the people are lying that they have committed crime?

What if the wrong person has been arrested and stoned to death by mob or burned by tyres?
They are dead they can’t say ‘Yes’ or ‘No ‘ to what they are accused of.
There are some South Africans who are xenophobic and hate foreigners for no reason. There are many good South Africans with good hearts and oppose mob justice.

We don’t want suspects to be killed in streets. Even suspects who are South Africans must not be killed in streets. It’s moral wrong.

Mob justice is demonic. We are only allowed to kill in self defense. As individuals we are not allowed to take the law into our hands and kill innocent people or suspects.

Therefore in the name of Jesus Christ I oppose mob justice and violence that has gripped South Africa. We don’t want people killed in streets.

Even his Excellency SA President Ramaphosa has condemned mob justice and vigilantism.
Killing people in streets and in front of our children what nation are we building?

I am extremely against crime and I am extremely against so-called mob justice.

Criminals and suspects must be arrested by Police and be sentenced according to the South African laws.
