Our “End-Times” Plan #3 – Putting on the Armor of God

Posted June 22, 2025 |End Times Watch | River Wilde

Welcome back.

Do you get this feeling that the world is just a battlefield? All of the wars that are happening around us can be troubling for us to deal with emotionally. Sometimes watching the news feels hopeless and troubling. Just a thought here…We should limit the things that we do and watch that give us anxiety and worry. Our focus of this group is the exact opposite: We want to learn those things that will give us peace and strength.

What we have been learning over the past two days are the things that we can do to prepare us for the end times. I hope that you are realizing that we can do MANY things to prepare, as well as minimize the anxiety. Taking control over our emotions is key to our journey together. We are doing this with knowledge and preparation.

It is very unlikely that you and me will actually be part of a physical battle. But for the sake of today’s post, I would like to explain things as if we were to enter into an emotional battlefield. Seeing things in this setting will assist us in our preparation.

With what is happening around us, what do you think are some of the things that we can do to prepare for this emotional battle ahead?

Yesterday, we have learned that we are part of a team, and that God is our Commander and Leader. As our leader, He has actually given us directions as to how we can prepare for this emotional battle. He has already given us the tools to help this group in preparing for the end times. My job is simple. I do not need to create a plan for you, but rather just report the plan that our Commander has already given to us.

I love the symbolism of putting on the armor as we prepare for battle. Armor is protection, and provides a secure feeling. It would be foolish for us to consider going into “battle” without first putting on the necessary armor to protect us. God talks about us putting on the “Armor of God” in the scriptures. Let’s take a look.

Ephesians 6:10–18 (KJV)

Verse 10:

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

Right off, God is stating that it is paramount to “Be strong in the lord.” What does this mean?

“Be strong in the Lord” is a call to rely not on your own strength, but on God’s power. It means drawing your courage, endurance, and spiritual strength from Him rather than your own willpower. In times of struggle or spiritual battle, trust in His unchanging character and the promises He has made—He is faithful, sovereign, and mighty. This strength allows you to stand firm in your faith, unshaken by fear, temptation, or trials, as you lean fully on God to sustain and guide you.

Verse 11:

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Paul compares spiritual protection to armor. He tells believers to “put on” the complete set of God’s spiritual defenses. Do you see that he is asking us to do something here? We must “Put on the armor of God”. It doesn’t just magically happen for us. It requires that we learn what this is and apply it to our lives. The “wiles of the devil” refer to Satan’s deceit, temptations, and strategies meant to lead us away from God. We need divine protection to stand firm.

Verse 12:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Our true battle isn’t physical—it’s spiritual. “Flesh and blood” means people are not the real enemy. Instead, our fight is against dark spiritual forces—Satan and his team that influence the world’s systems and tempt humanity. “High places” refers to realms beyond the physical—spiritual battlegrounds.

This is so fitting in our journey. It is again a reminder that the battle before us is not a physical one. In simple terms, the battle ahead of us is Good vs Evil. We are on “Team Good” and are preparing for “Team Evil” to try and get us to join their team. This is what we are preparing for, so that we are not deceived into joining team evil.

Verse 13:

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Because our enemy is spiritual and powerful, we need all of God’s armor. “The evil day” refers to times of intense trial or temptation. The goal isn’t just to survive—but to stand firm in faith, even after the battle.

Are you seeing what’s before us more plainly now? Times of Trial and Temptation, rather than a physical fight. Satan wants you to join his team, and we are going to do everything possible not to fall for the trap that he will set.

Verse 14:

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”

  • Loins girt with truth: In ancient armor, a belt held everything together. Truth does this spiritually—God’s truth stabilizes and prepares us. In order for us to see what is TRUE, we must rely on God to show us.
  • Breastplate of righteousness: Like armor protecting the heart, righteousness guards our spiritual core. Living rightly before God shields us from the enemy’s accusations and attacks. God does not expect perfection from us, (We will be talking about this in the coming posts). What He is saying here is that when we live “our best” and avoid sin, this increases our protection and ability to hear Him give us commands that will keep us safe.

Verse 15:

“And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”

Soldiers need firm footing. The gospel of peace provides spiritual stability and readiness. It enables believers to move forward without slipping, sharing peace with others and standing confidently in God’s promises. When Jesus was on the earth, He taught us His gospel. We are studying this together in this blog. You will continue to see that when we learn of and follow His gospel, tremendous peace will come into our hearts. “There is Peace in Christ!”

Verse 16:

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

Faith acts like a shield, protecting us from Satan’s attacks—doubts, fears, temptations, lies. Fiery darts were literal flaming arrows in battle; spiritually, they represent anything meant to wound or destroy our trust in God. Faith puts them out. So, what is faith? How can we have faith in God? (More to come in upcoming writings.)

Verse 17:

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

  • Helmet of salvation: Just as a helmet protects the head, salvation guards our mind. It gives assurance of eternal life and protects us from discouragement and spiritual confusion. Have you forgotten about the PRIZE that lies ahead of us? Do you know that soon, we will all be together in the most glorious place ever? No more fear, sadness, death, or worry. We will all be living together in a place that God has prepared for us.
  • Sword of the Spirit: The only offensive weapon in the armor. The Word of God is powerful, living, and active (Hebrews 4:12). It allows us to fight back with truth—just like Jesus did when tempted by Satan (Matthew 4). We use this sword by fighting back against “Team Evil.” We will not let them peruse us to joining their team.

Verse 18:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Armor alone isn’t enough—we must stay in constant prayer. “Praying in the Spirit” means relying on the Holy Spirit’s help and guidance. We are also to watch (stay alert spiritually) and pray for others (all saints), not just ourselves. This creates unity, support, and strength among believers.

We learned about the power of prayer yesterday. I hope that you can see that prayer is indeed a POWER that you possess. Team Evil does not like us talking to our Commander. In military strikes, a key first step in battle is to take out the enemy’s communication…It is that important in winning the battle.

When you notice that you have slowed down or even stopped praying, team evil is doing just that to you…Removing your communication. Do not let this happen to you. Prayer is simply one of the most powerful weapons that you possess, use it often.

The things that we can pray for are endless, but let’s see what the scriptures say regarding what we can pray for:

  1. Wisdom and guidance (James 1:5)
  2. Forgiveness of sins (1 John 1:9)
  3. Strength to overcome temptation (Matthew 6:13)
  4. Peace and comfort (Philippians 4:6–7)
  5. Healing—physical, emotional, spiritual (James 5:14–15)
  6. Provision for daily needs (Matthew 6:11)
  7. Spiritual growth and faith (Ephesians 3:16–19)
  8. Salvation for others (1 Timothy 2:1–4)
  9. God’s will to be done (Matthew 6:10)
  10. Praise and thanksgiving (Psalm 100:4)

This is the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is what He taught when He was on the earth. He was teaching you and me the things that we can do to get through the challenges of this mortal life.

It is a good time here to remind you of the importance of paying for our study group members. Each day prior to reading the daily post, pray that God will teach you the truthfulness of the things that you are studying, and also, pray for our group that we might all have the strength and emotional ability to carry on. There are people in this group that depend upon you and your prayers to get them through each day. Please remember them, and please know that they are praying for you as well. Just knowing this alone is so powerful.

I hope that you have found comfort in today’s study. If this is the case, start acknowledging the feelings of peace that you feel while studying about Jesus Christ. Our objective with this group is to find PEACE, right? Well…it’s happening with every prayer, and study that you do and will do. If it feels peaceful, then let’s continue doing this. As you acknowledge the peaceful feeling that you are having, you will begin to see that it is through Jesus Christ that you are finding peace…
