Seriously? Did it escape your attention that that the “satanic salute” is also the “Hook’em Horns” sign adopted by the University of Texas in Austin? Am I the only person not surprised that Ron Paul, a Texas representative, while standing in front of what appears to be the Texas statehouse in Austin TX, (home of UT), might choose to give a very popular hand sign generally used to signify victory? The fact that the clips of Paul are minimal and entirely out context doesn’t help people get a true understanding of what meaning, if there is any, should be ascribed to the hand signal/salute.

OK, here’s a novel concept. Why can’t they just wave at the crowds instead of raising this finger or that finger. That would be the average person’s response without thinking about “Gee, I should put my hands like this…or like that.” In other words, the people who give these “alternative” hand waves have to THINK about giving that hand wave since the hand naturally extends as a normal 5 finger wave. I don’t think that if Ron Paul gave a standard hand wave that the people in Austin will think LESS of him. Do you?
