2012 Predictions and Debunking

Nibiru (a.k.a. Planet X) is a controversial, hypothetical plant that exists within our solar system, but outside of our knowledge. The theory of this planet stems from Zecharia Sitchin’s ‘The 12th Planet’ book and his Ancient Astronaut Theory. Sitchin argues that ancient astronauts visited our ancestors in Mesopotamia and gave them knowledge and the people would become the first cradle of civilization. He believes this Nibiru planet has aliens that visit us every time its orbit comes closest to Earth. The alien race called the Annunaki was supposedly responsible for DNA manipulation and intervention in our evolution. Some believe these Annunaki interbred with the women, similar to stories in the Bible about the Nephilim. There are a variety of reasons that Sitchin believes this to be true, you can read up on the details on my Ancient Astronaut Theory post.

Sitchin believes that Nibiru will come closest to Earth around 2012, as part of its 3,600 year orbit cycle. The idea that Nibiru will actually crash into us was brought about by a woman named Nancy Lieder, who had previous visions of the world ending in 2003.

This theory would involve some deep cover-ups on many levels, including the suppression from amateur astronomers who could surely see the planet’s existence. Sitchin has also been debunked and refuted by many researchers, including some of those on the Ancient Aliens show. Dr. Michael Heiser has studied this subject profusely and he points out that much of what Sitchin proclaims simply does not translate from the cuneiform tablets.

Mayan Calendar Theory:

The Mayan are a mysterious people, some believe they are refugees that fled Atlantis. They were able to develop highly accurate calendar systems based on star observations (their lunar supplementary calendar is only 34 seconds off from what we know it is today). They had a deep understanding of the cycles of time, as is evident in their calendar system which consists of circular calendars fit inside one another. There are five 26,000 year cycles with five sub cycles of 5,125 years in each calendar. December 21st, 2012 marks the end of the fifth sub cycle, constituting the close of a “Great Cycle.” The Great Cycle supposedly ends on their Long Count-Calendar at the 13th “baktun”, at 11:11 universal time (6:11am, EST), but I haven’t seen anything legitimate to back that claim up for the exact time it ends. We don’t know everything about the Mayan; much less what time exactly the calendar ends.

Since we know their calendar system is cyclical, we should be able to logically come to the conclusion that the world won’t simply end, but instead a new cycle will begin.

Prophecy of the Maya claims that Mayan knowledge would be revealed to restore balance on Earth, and this is believed to occur on December 21st, 2012. This actually contradicts the ‘end of the world’ theory, but supports the ‘end of the world as we know it’ theory. The Mayan simply believed there would be a transformation in store for us. In fact, there are references to future dates in Mayan inscriptions, including King Pacal (he’s the guy with the spaceship-tomb image seen on Ancient Aliens) predicting his accession in the year 4772.

Galactic Alignment, Pole Reversals and Solar Storms:

Galactic Alignment-

There is a theory that the Sun will be passing through what is referred to as the ‘Dark Rift’ (some say the Mayan referred to it as the “Black Road,” or the road to the underworld of Xibalba) which is the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. This Dark Rift is believed to be a gigantic black hole, from which there is no escape.

In reality, the dark rift is dark clouds that block light from the constellations Cygnus to Sagittarius. The alignments of the Sun and Earth occur like this on a regular basis, and have even been closer to the alignment predictions in the past. The Sun travels to the Dark Rift every year at the same time, and nothing is special about 2012. Also; there is in fact a black hole at the center of the Milky Way, but we only move closer to it by 1/9,000,000 parts per year. I’m not an expert of astronomy, so I’ll have to take NASA’s word on all of this, and they assure us that the movements of the Sun and planets are typical and there’s nothing peculiar going on.

NASA has said that we have no way of knowing where the center of the Milky Way is even located, and that claim that the Sun would cross such a location is impossible to make. The Sun will come closest to this region (not an exact location, but a rough guesstimate regional area) a couple of hundred years from now.

Pole Reversals-

Some theorists say that the Earth’s poles could be flipped when the Sun crosses this dark rift, which would reverse the flow of the electromagnetic field surrounding the Earth. This would result in an opening of time in which we don’t have the magnetic field’s protection and it would leave us vulnerable to cosmic radiation that would fry our electronics or worse yet, our bodies.

The inner core of the Earth moves lava around and induces a current and that current is what creates our magnetic field. As you could imagine, this current is in a constant state of change, so the magnetic field is always moving, and therefore the magnetic poles are shifting with them, although rather slowly. The idea that a pole shift would throw our Earth off of its axis is also not possible, since we’re in a constant state of shifting.

The poles of the planet have flipped in the past, in what is called “Geomagnetic Reversals.” These pole reversals occur slowly, over several thousand years where the poles weaken and eventually flip. The last flip occurred close to a million years ago (the Brunhes-Matuyama reversal; scientists study lava to determine this), and there is no evidence to show that a new flip-cycle has started. The flipping action wouldn’t happen all of a sudden on December 21^st, or at least that’s what we know about the phenomenon.

Solar Storms-

Similar to the poles flipping scenario, there is rumor of a fatal solar storm that will attack us during this vulnerable pole flip moment. Even though there is no evidence to show that the poles are flipping anytime soon, there is a threat of a solar storm that could take out by frying our electronics with powerful radiation blasts.

This is one of the threats to hold an actual concern with. Our sun is going through a solar maximum phase in 2013, and this means we have a 7% chance of a storm powerful enough to knock out the majority of high voltage transformers in the U.S., according to a study conducted by the National Academy of Sciences. The power grid in America is built to save costs; not withstand powerful solar storms. This means that the electrical grid could be done for up to a year. Pumps that operate all of the water, sewer, and fuel systems would seize to work and would bring society to a standstill over night. The lack of fuel would affect even the backup generators found in hospitals, and the death toll could run into the millions. The sun has had two storms (called Coronal Mass Ejections) like this in the past, one in 1859 (Carrington event) and one in 1921, but both of those were well before the proliferation of electrical power in the grid. A similar threat would be an electro-magnetic pulse weapon that could be detonated and take out the power grid, just like the solar storm, except these EMPs have the ability to knock out small electronics also.

Conclusion-

The real threat to us is our environment and the threats we’ve been duped into creating ourselves. Global warming, genetically modified Frankenfoods, the banksters depleting your retirement funds, and false role models in entertainment are all far more dangerous than most of the theories being floated around for December 21^st. Air pollution itself kills over three million people annually; FAR more than terrorism, hypothetical planet collisions, or asteroids. Contaminated water, air and food cause cancers of unknown proportions, killing millions upon millions per year, again; FAR more than what we worry about actually killing us. Over 500,000 people in the U.S. alone die from air pollution induced cardiopulmonary disease. OVER 500,000 EVERY YEAR! How many people died in the 9/11 attacks? 3,000. And then we send the troops over to die to a tune of double that- over 6,000 and counting (that’s not including the 40K+ casualties with missing limbs or other injuries). The lack of perspective is astounding. I’m not saying the war is unjustified (and get further off-track), I’m just pointing out the manipulation being carried out in channeling where the Illuminati-types want our thoughts to focus on. Distractions so their best interests can be carried out without objection.

Not to get too biblical or preachy, but here’s one more thing regarding the date of the apocalypse from Matthew 24:36- “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” The Bible is clear that no man knows when the end of times will happen. That’s not to say that all of the other 2012 catastrophes are out of the question though. We could still get hit with some brutal stuff without the second coming.

So to sum it all up, we don’t know if it’s the end of the world, but it could be the end of the world in the way we know it. The ‘new’ world could be a change for the better or for the worse, if anything happens at all. Most likely, nothing is going to happen. I’m a believer in free will so I find it hard to think that Mayans could predict an exact date of destruction. The only plausible scenario I see would be a prophetic vision of a drastic revolution of mankind due to the integration of technology. The transhumanism movement is gaining popularity and accelerating faster than ever. The singularity that Ray Kurzweil warns (more appropriately, “informs” us- he is supportive of it) us about is approaching and has the potential to turn us all into robot hybrids.
