It Seems Rules Don’t Apply To Matthew Martino
Lets Fly author and Aviation Enthusiast Matthew C Martino has been caught in the middle of yet another controversy after an airport employee at Biggin Hill Airport has come forward to confirm that the 21year flew a jet.
Reports broke out in late 2013 that the 21year old Lets Fly author had ‘flown various jets’ and ‘lived life like a pilot’ , Martino who doesn’t hold any official pilot licensing is thought to hold extensive knowledge in the aviation industry however this could mean he broke the law.
The Biggin Hill Airport employee who wished not to be named told us ‘He used to come regularly in early 2013 and I remember he did have an airside pass and he used to wear a first officers uniform’.
It is thought Martino abused his position as pilots of private charter firm ‘F5 Air’ let him fly jets he didn’t have licensing or type ratings for. Martino owned a 66% stake in the company before the business entered administration in March 2013. Martino has been criticised for double standards after he commented on various airline crashes and he has always supported stricter pilot training regulations.
F5 Air specialised in private charter flights and air medical services, they had a clientele of VIPs and business executives who regularly flew with them. F5 Air mainly operated flights around the UK, The offered flights from London to Manchester or Leeds to Portsmouth etc, they were however always willing to adapt to the customers needs.
Their slogan was ‘Because every little detail matters’. Martino who was the Chief Executive of the firm is thought to have used his position to fly jets the company operated.

This will deal a further blow to the 21year old as his Lets Fly brand is reported to be operating in the red. Since the brand declared a £20k loss in December 2013 Martino has been very low key about the business but Lets Fly official Twitter account confirmed that they are rolling out a Europe wide advertising campaign at selected train stations and shopping centres.
Advertising of this degree would obviously come at cost with industry leaders CBS Outdoors charging up to £3000 for a train station billboard for a week!
Martino who spends most of his time not doing much is thought to still be running day to day operations at Lets Fly. Carol Suvarov stated in a press conference ‘We still believe that it’s for the best for Matthew to be heading day to day operations of the business, he has in return sacrificed his other commitments to ensure he can be on hand to assist the team at Lets Fly.’
At this moment it seems a formal investigation into these allegations might not be possible as the firm was shut.
