Victor Bugliosi’s death on June 6 almost evened the score  in the longevity wars of the JFK debate. It followed the death last April of the venerated John Judge, a great champion of the “pro-conspiracy” view. Bugliosi, of course, authored the inane 1600 page lone-nutter text Reclaiming History, which reclaimed history for, well, the inane. Bugliosi also successfully prosecuted the case that sent Charles Manson to jail, which at least established some legal precedent for prosecuting the crime of mind control.

Buglisosi’s megalomania comes out pretty clearly in the post that went up at Steamshovel Facebook last week:

Bugliosi talks about his own book as “the book of the ages” and “the most sourced book in all history”. In a debate with famed forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht,who clearly and forcefully sets forth the real complexities of the matter. Have a listen and see if you disagree. Cyril Wecht deserves great credit for his patience. He has a bombastic speaking style and is not without his ego, so ego isn’t the issue. Wecht makes his case from the standpoint of medical science. Bugliosi makes his case from sleazy lawyering.

“Conspiracy” or “non-conspracy” has always been a false dialogue, so  Bugliosi’s passing means very little. Well-known lone nutters have become fewer and farther between in the larger commercial media. The long discredited Gerald Posner comes to mind (discredited for all save his buddy John Stewart), in the bigger, more commercial media. Online people like John McAdams have fallen into disrepute even among their own rightist followers. That same major commercial media uses false dialogue to help sell the scams and consumer crap in its commercials but even its own self-studies reflect that no one pays attention.

In the real parapolitical research world Bill Kelly struggles to rebuild COPA, John Judge’s org,as Citizens Against Political Assassinations. Judge’s research files have become the Hidden History Museum thanks to the efforts of  Marilyn Tenenoff. Joseph Green’s movies, King Kill, remains eagerly awaited.These and other activists still can be found online in abundance even as Victor Bugliosi fades from inanity into obscurity.

That JFK’s assassination was a conspiracy is a settled matter according to the House Select Committee. It was a conspiracy. Some of the lessons of the fallout of this now widely accepted conclusion are given at the eight minute mark on this video by John Judge after he reads JFK’s famous June 10, ’63 speech  on nuclear disarmament:

Without Bugliosi’s overblown ego leading an ever-shrinking pack of willfully ignorant and willfully naive people, the obvious  question faces anyone who has an interest and an understanding: what are you going to do about it?
