Missing Plane: Indonesian Villagers Report Crash

Indonesian villagers have witnessing reported a plane crash after the disappearance of an aircraft with 54 people on board in the province of Papua. (read full story…HERE)

Reports are coming in of a passenger airplane going missing in Indonesia. We are being told that the plane, operating for a company banned in Europe, lost contact 33, yes 33, minutes into the flight. There are 54 people on board and missing.

Sky News Reports…

A plane carrying 54 people has disappeared over the Indonesian prvince of Papua.

Trigana flight IL267 failed to arrive in Oksibil from Sentani as scheduled after contact was lost 33 minutes after take-off.

The internal journey would normally take 45 minutes.

The aircraft, with 44 adults, five children and five crew on board, was due to arrive at 3.16pm local time (7.16am UK time).

“We can’t confirm it has crashed. We can say contact has been lost with the plane,” said National Search and Rescue Agency chief Bambang Soelystyo.

The search has now been suspended due to nightfall and will resume at 6am local time.

The Aviation Safety Network claim the plane is 27 years old and say Trigana has had 14 serious incidents since it began operating in 1991, writing off 10 aircraft.
