Treasonous Trump Rented NJ Property To Libyan Dictator Muammar Gaddafi

Presidential candidate and international business mogul Donald Trump is all over the news these days for his off-the-cuff statements in an increasingly competitive bid for the 2016 Republican nomination.
But way back in 2009, Trump was up to other things, including renting out property to now-deposed and deceased Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. When making a trip to New York, Gaddafi pitched a Bedouin tent (a very large, nomadic tent) on property owned by Trump, after struggling to find accommodations in the traditionally tent-free city.
But there was some dispute on the exact identity of the renter. At the time, Trump Organization spokeswoman Rhonna Graff said:
“We have business partners and associates all over the world. The property was leased on a short-term basis to Middle Eastern partners who may or may not have a relationship to Mr. Gaddafi. We are looking into the matter now.”
But the decision to rent out property to Gaddafi was not received well in the city. Then-Rep. John Hall (D-NY) said “this sponsor of terror is not welcome here,” adding:
“Several residents of this area were horrifically murdered on Pan Am Flight 103. Gaddafi’s presence in our community is a slap in the face to the memories of these victims and their families, adding to the recent outrage of the hero’s welcome Gaddafi staged for the convicted murderer released by Scotland.”
After visiting New York, Gaddafi was booted from power in Libya, beaten to death, then had his corpse paraded through his home town of Sirt by rebel forces.
In 2011, Trump himself addressed the incident, telling Fox News that he “screwed” Gaddafi. He continued discussing his rental dispute, adding:
“I dealt with Gaddafi. I rented him a piece of land. He paid me more for one night than the land was worth for two years, and then I didn’t let him use the land.”
Trump has since hardened his stance on controversial regional powers, calling for military forces to bomb Iraqi oil fields and ripping Mexico’s law enforcement.
Since mounting his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump has climbed in the polls, putting him neck and neck with some of the party’s elite candidates.
