Islamic State Leader’s Message to Israel was Actually Intended for Muslims

A common misconception about the Islamic State is that they’re barbaric simpletons who know nothing beyond murder, rape, and pillaging. This is far from the truth. They are a political and economic force that has all of the makings of an actual state. As such, they must play the public relations game just like every other country in the world.

Their “PR team” is aware of growing dissatisfaction with the way the Islamic State has treated Israel. For many Muslims, particularly radicalized ones, the most hated enemy is not the other Muslim powers that oppose them or even the western powers led by the United States. Israel and the Jews are still their primary targets and the Islamic State has been notably ineffective at opposing the Jewish state or even speaking out against them.

When Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi released an audio message warning Israel that they are “getting closer to you day by day,” it wasn’t a message intended to strike fear in Jews. Israel has had problems with radical Islamic terrorists as well as Islamic military attacks throughout its history. The Islamic State will have to take a number as far as Israel is concerned.

This message was intended to alert Muslims, particularly potential recruits to their cause, that Israel is a target and that they’re hatred for the Jews can be soon turned into action if they join the Islamic State. This was a recruiting message more than a threat against the Jewish state.

It highlights the continued need for western forces to completely obliterate this threat before it has the power to strike allies… or America itself.
