Crediting the “North Pole Environmental Observatory, National Science Foundation”
The recorded North Pole air temperature on December 31, 2015 was reported by AXIB Buoy #1322472 @87.5N,12W, at -10F. As the chart above illustrates the record high was 47F in 1982.
{This buoy was deployed August 26, 2015.}
Wendy Ermold of the IAB examined the data over 2 days and found that there had been a significant warming trend from December 28, 2015[ -35F] and on December 31, 2015 [16F] because a very sharp front that did not extend as far north as predicted!
