POWERBALL WORLD LOTTERY?...Why...

Imagine…this Powerball might exceed $1 billion at the rate it is going and just imagine if there is no winner!

Numerous sites from other countries are swamped by residents requests to purchase tickets for them even though they do not reside in the U.S. If any of these individuals should win, then the funds will leave our country! The U.S. dollar is very strong so this transfer of wealth will be even more significant in other countries that have seen tremendous devaluation in their currency.

This raises the issue that should be examined…Should only U.S. residents be permitted to purchase and retain the winnings?

From the winnings the U.S. government will take a large portion in the form of a special tax.

The most important point is that the lottery is used as a method to raise revenue for the government without raising taxes!!!

Some winner/winners will see an incredable improvement to their lifestyle.Good for them!

With this influx of revenue will the government pay down the deficit or will it be used as it has been …defense?

Before everyone dismisses this, one quick trip through the history books will reveal what lottery funds have been used for.

GREAT WALL OF CHINA: It was funded in part by a lottery. Keno slips have been discovered dating back to the Chinese Han Dynasty 205-187 B.C.

Italy: Funds from the first lottery [Jan.9, 1449] was used to fund the war against the Republic of Venice.

Great Britain: In medieval times towns used lotteries to raise funds for towns defense and assist the poor.

Later Queen Elizabeth 1st used lottery funds for defence.

FRANCE: Once again funds from the lottery were used to fund military campaigns.

Imagine a country such as NORTH KOREA getting a tremendous cash infusion because they can purchase tickets as well. What about ISIS terrorists?

There really is no oversight as to where and how these funds are used if won by individuals outside of the country. Do we really want to fund other countries with our own citizens after tax ticket purchases?

Another question we should raise is that more good could be done for more people if the lottery was set up to have MORE WINNERS!

Everyone in the lottery line ups have voiced the same opinion, so why doesn’t the lottery commission solicit and change according to the majority concensus?

GREED? I do not believe so. It is rather the worry of Lottery Fatigue and the necessity of generating excitement!

It is a harmless form of entertainment and fun imagining what to do and who to help if the impossible happens.

However in light of the ramping up of war speak from various countries, we should at least be wise enough not to finance campaigns with our own money to fight against us.
