Who replaced Judas Iscariot, son of perdition…apparently none of our business

Luke gives an account by misquoting Scripture “For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.” Lying acts 1:20

So let’s go to that Psalm and see for ourselves if this regards Judas’ betrayal of Jesus…oops, David in his own despair is prophesying about the PHARISEES that paid Judas, so there is clearly NO replacement except in their twisted minds:

1  Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
2  I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
3  I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
THEY that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: THEY that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.
6 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
7 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.
For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.
12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O Lord, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
14  Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
16  Hear me, O Lord ; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.
18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.
19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.
20  Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
21 THEY gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst THEY gave me vinegar to drink.
22 Let THEIR table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for THEIR welfare, let it become a trap.
23 Let THEIR eyes be darkened, that THEY see not; and make THEIR loins continually to shake.
24 Pour out thine indignation upon THEM, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of THEM.
25 Let THEIR habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in THEIR tents.
26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.
27  Add iniquity unto THEIR iniquity: and let THEM not come into thy righteousness.
28 Let THEM be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.
29 But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.
Psalm 69

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.” Matthew 23:38

Luke did not misquote the scripture – you just failed to read sixth grade English.

There is no error in including the son of perdition in the number of those condemned in Psalm 69. He went where all Bible rejectors will end up. (Revelation 20:15)

The second statement in Acts 1:20 refers to the replacement of Judas Iscariot’s office, and is from PSALM 109:

Psalm 109:8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

This is not the only example of a writer incorporating several old testament passages to teach one truth. (Example: Mark 1:2)

      Wrong Psalm.

A word of caution. You had better be careful about messing with God’s Word:

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

I don’t judge the Book. It judges ME.

cy, your example only proves my point (thus revealing the liar)…b/c this piece of Scripture — literally a scrap! — is being PASTED onto the prophetic 69th psalm.  Jesus appointed apostles, those sent, not offices!

Pharisee Paul instituted titles…the Master said all were brothers!!

        In context:

        1 Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

(followed by what DAVID desires for his enemies)

6 Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
7 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
10 Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
11 Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
12 Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15 Let them be before the Lord continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
16 Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
17 As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
18 As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
19 Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

20  Let this be THE REWARD OF MINE ADVERSARIES from the Lord, and of them that SPEAK EVIL against my soul.

         Psalm 119

Mark another example…LOL    Pharisee Paul’s OTHER co-conspirator!
