President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Marina Abramovic as the Ambassador of Ukraine to rebuild educational institutes.

Marina Abramović, a renowned performance artist, has been appointed as an ambassador for rebuilding schools in Ukraine by President Zelensky. While this move was aimed at a noble cause, it has ignited a storm of controversy surrounding Abramović’s past, including accusations of satanism and involvement in conspiracy theories.

Who is Marina Abramović?

Born in Yugoslavia in 1946, Abramović is one of the most influential performance artists of her generation. Her work explores the relationship between artist and audience, pushing the boundaries of physical and emotional endurance. Her iconic performances include “Rhythm 0″ (1974), in which she allowed the audience to do whatever they wanted to her with 72 objects, and “The Artist Is Present” (2010), in which she sat motionless at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City for 736 hours, inviting visitors to sit across from her in silence.

The Spirit Cooking Controversy

In 1997, Abramović published a book titled “Spirit Cooking,” which included a collection of poetic recipes that some have interpreted as instructions for violent acts. The book also contains references to occult imagery and symbolism. Abramović has stated that “Spirit Cooking” is a work of art and that the recipes are not meant to be taken literally. However, the controversy has persisted, and Abramović has been accused of satanism and involvement in black magic.
