How to Cook Hot Dogs in an Oven

• ½ cup chopped onion
• One tablespoon butter
• ½ teaspoon black pepper
• One teaspoon prepared mustard

• 12 Hot dogs

Directions

• Sauté the onion in butter until the onion is translucent.
• Add black pepper, paprika, mustard, ketchup, vinegar, water, and Worcestershire sauce and bring to boil.
• Cut 3-inch slits in each hot dog to increase the surface area. This process makes the hot dogs brown more.
• Place the hot dogs in a flat baking pan, and slit side up. Pour the sauce over the hot dogs and bake in 350 degrees oven for 25 minutes.
• About halfway through the cooking, shake the pan to rotate the hot dogs; you want your hot dogs to be brown on all sides. Baste hot dogs with sauce occasionally while they are baking to improve their flavor. You can bake lots of hot dogs using this method.

Oven-roasted Hot Dogs without Sauce

You can also omit the sauce from the recipe to make your oven-roasted hot dogs. Here’s how to do it;

Directions

• Preheat your oven to 400F.
• Make a lengthwise cut down each hot dog. Do this on a stable surface as hot dogs are slippery.
• Place the hot dogs on a roasting pan and put your oven. Cook for 15minutes till hot dogs become brown and begin to curl.
• As hot dogs roast, they drip to release juices, so you should place an aluminum foil on the roasting pan to avoid having a mess.
• Remove hot dogs from the oven and place them on buns. Your roasted hot dog is ready to be served.

Serving Oven-roasted Hot Dogs
