U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests York County Double Homicide Suspect

Scranton, PA – United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced today that the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force arrested Dejerek Smallwood, a 21-year old man, in York, Pennsylvania.

Smallwood was being sought for a double homicide that occurred in late November 2013 in the 500 block area of W. Mason Ave in York, PA which left two individuals dead after suffering from gunshot wounds. On December 10, 2013 an arrest warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Barbara Nixon, charging Smallwood with:

Two Counts Criminal Homicide

Two Counts Conspiracy – Criminal Homicide

One Count Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession Narcotics

On December 12, 2013 Dejerek Smallwood was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force out of the Middle District of Pennsylvania without incident in the 100 block of North Penn Street in York, PA. Smallwood was turned over to local authorities for processing.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “Our top priority is to arrest violent offenders, especially those who use guns against our citizens. This arrest takes a murder suspect off the street. It is my sincere hope that this will bring the two victims some measure of justice.”

The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with officers from the York City Police Department, York County Sheriff’s Department, York County District Attorney’s Office, Adams County Sheriff’s Department, Latimore Township Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Unit. The concept of all USMS-led fugitive task forces is to seek out and arrest the nation’s most dangerous offenders.
