Ken Cromar Life Lesson: Slavery Is Not About Race, It’s About Evil

The following are the words of a fellow inmate who Ken Cromar met in the Weber County Jail. His perspective is frighteningly enlightening:

Imagine being lost on an island all by yourself drawing giant SOSes in the sand, sending messages in a bottle, trying to repair radio equipment, yelling at the top of your lungs and…anything to get your message out, to no avail.  Then one day you bump into another person who has an idea for a tool, imperfect, but a tool, nonetheless. 

My friend, Paul Kenneth Cromar is the other person on the island with the tool to help me get not only my message out, but the message of my people, because at the age of 64 years old, he now knows what it’s like to be a black man.  He has been imprisoned, and had his rights violated, and voice suffocated, but this has been happening to black people since the “restoration period” after the civil war when hard-working, newly freed slaves rose to prominence and became land owners, farmers, business owners, even into politics and one day it was all for nothing after being out-numbered in Congress. Bill after bill was passed against blacks being able to vote, own land and businesses.  How is it the Bill of Rights or the Constitution didn’t protect these Americans?  Because we were three-fifths disposable and unimportant and still are today, much like today’s felon. 

Unfortunately for Cromar and his lovely family, the IRS, coupled with the United States of America Corp has shown them him what happens when you don’t follow their rules.  The Cromars have fought against a weaponized IRS for six years now, eighteen court cases, including a lawsuit against the commissioner of the IRS.  Yet, his voice has all but been silenced by incarceration.

 I had Paul pegged the moment I saw him.  I’d seen his type a million times; non-drug addict, healthy, older white man, carrying a Book of Mormon, looking like someone’s gran-daddy, suga-daddy, bishop, or a MO. And that’s what I tagged him.  What is a MO you might be asking?  A child molester.  I was embarrassed what I had done to him.  One of the things that I hate done to me…I stereotyped him.  I told my wife I had done so and I also promised to tell him and apologize like a man should, and I did. 

Cromar told us his story and we understood the wrong being done to him, but it is so common to us, we weren’t appalled.  Cromar was incredulous.  Everyone laughed when I said it and Paul was confused, “welcome to the life of a nigga!”- not to be confused with ‘nigger’.   I was serious then and still am. 

Who am I?  Nobody special, just a ghetto bastard from a forgotten generation, Hilary Clinton referred to as “super predators”.  I was born in 1980, so I remember in 1985 when the world went crazy, for every black community had its very shallow post-civil rights roots ripped up when CIA supplied cocaine became “crack”.  Then came the war on drugs, crack laws, mass incarceration, and broken homes.  I am a product of the crack epidemic that left millions of kids just like me to fend for ourselves, as our parents, elders, and community leaders fell victim to the drugs our own government allowed in.

Why wasn’t head of the CIA, George H. W. Bush held accountable for the attempted genocide?  It left us ghetto bastards to fend for ourselves, to heal ourselves from the many traumas we incurred from every form of abuse.  Not being heard, not being loved, or both is terrible, but worse is not being able to give or receive love, because to show love is weakness and weakness could literally get you killed.  Learned to hide or ignore all the feelings or emotions, so we became emotionally illiterate; can’t express them, can’t control them. We didn’t get to just go home and worry about homework and sports, because we had to deal with not having food to eat, no lights, or gas, dirty clothes, and getting made fun of for cheap or messed up shoes on our feet; the combined pressure of that made many of us drop out of school. 

In order to survive and to provide, we learned to sell the same drugs our parents were addicted to.  Like playing ‘house, we played ‘grownup’; we acted like adults when we were really children, with no protection from ourselves or each other, and only one direction…to prison.

That’s my story, but I said Cromar was going to help me get my people’s story out.  That’s the most important story there is.

 I write this story from the belly of the beast where the unlikeliest of acquaintance was made between Cromar and I and stereotypes demolished and blown to pieces.  I was able to explain to him that felons were the new slave class in America with many laws passed to reduce all felons to three-fifths (3/5) of a man.  I explained that there is a book called “The Willie Lynch Letter and the Making of a Slave”; which teaches slave owners to pit light-skinned and dark-skinned against each other, the young, the old, man, the woman, all against each other for a year…it would last for four hundred (400) years, thus creating a self-propelled hate machine, which is now at work here and every other correctional facility (AKA plantation) across America.  

Different black gangs caused the blacks to be divided, same with the whites, Asian, Hispanic, and others, but then the blacks, whites, Hispanics, etc. …divide and hate one another.  I believe the battle strategy is “divide and conquer”.  We divide ourselves like Willie Lynch said we would and wait to be slaughtered, our rights taken, our land, and our freedom, while the 10% ruling class that’s supposed to work for us, pass laws against us and our families, while we fight against each other like the ignorant, not-knowing “sheeple” they want us to be…the true meaning of the word “nigger”…not skin color.

The key is to unite my Brothers and Sisters of another color, race, religion, sex, and creed; embrace one another’s differences in culture and learn about each other’s differences and cultures. Difference isn’t bad, it’s just different, and we have to stop hating each other over differences and respect each other’s differences and cultures, quit taking our frustrations out on one another, when really the frustrations come from the 10% relegating us, the 90%, to slavery – seems kind of uneven, don’t it?

Editor’s Note:

Ken Cromar has since been moved to Davis County Jail, where the promised Discover continues to be kept from him in violation of court orders. But then, since Ken is now part of the new class of American Slave and reduced to the three fifths (3/5) of a man, his justice has been served?  – On another significant matter, I understand that the living condition of the inmates is an abomination with them living with Black Mold. The Weber County Health Department should be ashamed of themselves!
