We've got trim

Last weekend we had over 350 feet of trim to prime and paint. We hired my carpenter cousin to buy and install all the necessary trim for the kitchen, but we were painting it, so we wanted to get the first coat on before installing.

After 6 hours of painting and ogling Jared Leto on the music channel, I was almost done and my ankles had left the building. We got the sink, faucet, D/W and frig water and ice hooked up that day as well, it’s been fab to have a sink again!

We figured out right away that window casing wasn’t going to fit behind our fancy faucet because of the balls. Stupid big balls.

So, my trim guy did some surgery on the faucet, grinding off the last ball and smoothing the area where it used to be, freeing up over half an inch for the window casing.

It looks yellow because of a reflection. And it fits perfectly now!

He also made our door and window casing because he couldn’t find the profile at any of the stores he went to. It matches everything in the rest of the house perfectly, totally amazing.

The base trim looks so great with the new white paint!

We added shoe molding to all the toe kicks and sides of the cabinets as well, BM Decorator’s White turned out to be a very close match to the cabinet color.

Trim painting is done, and we removed the plywood today. We also touched up all the trim in the dining room that got stained during the floor refinish. Next up is picking our kitchen wall color, these two will be facing off shortly….

I love them both for different reasons, so we’ll see!
