% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Moving is not as stressful as you imagine if you have a good strategy for the flow of process right from the start till during and after the move. From packing, loading, transporting, unloading, and unpacking, you have a lot to take care of. A little time spent well in advance with adequate materials and some professional help can make you enjoy the entire process rather than feeling stressed. Professional moving services help you to have a complete master plan, which would ensure a fast, effective, stress-free and safe moving experience.

While there are hundreds of suggestions and blogs that talk about packing tips for moving, very few talk about packing clothes. If you belong to the majority who has a few wardrobes filled with a varied range of official and casual wears, then you must have an exclusive plan to shift your most cherished wardrobe collections with due care and attention.

The following are some of the essential moving tips and tricks to pack and move your clothes:

Donate Old Clothes

There could be many reasons why you have some of your clothes buried in your wardrobe, which haven’t been in use for the last 2 years or more. You may not even remember a few of them. At times, it’s because they are old stuff, which does not suit your dressing style or the fashion or season anymore.

You should sort out the clothes you decide not to wear anymore and the ones that do not fit your taste or size. There might even be clothes and other wardrobe accessories, which you feel you have outgrown.

Collect all these clothes, which are in good condition, and give them away to a charity. It’s a win-win situation where you are free from unwanted packing while the needy get something good to wear. You should also dispose of worn out or stained clothes that are no longer useful.

Put Aside Clothing you Will Need Immediately

Be it attending your workplace, running some errands, eating out or shopping for the last minute things, you will require a few good sets of comfortable formal wear and casual wear for these occasions, in addition to some nightwear for use at home. This applies to the last two days prior to shifting and first two days after moving into your new home and before unpacking. Hence, pick a small bag that’s appropriate for packing a few clothes you would require during these days. You may also have individual bags for your spouse and kids to avoid any confusion. You must include towels, handkerchiefs, socks, cold wear, and everything that is required for the season. Packing additional innerwear too is crucial as it always helps.

Sort by the Season

One of the most creative ways of packing clothes for moving is to distinguish the clothes based on your seasonal usage and then pack accordingly. Pack clothes, which you would use for the current month or two and pack the rest separately. There would be no hurry to unpack the other boxes all at once.

Use Suitcases First

Pack your delicate clothes and accessories in suitcases, as it would be more secure. However, you may keep heavy sweaters and pants for boxes, as they would occupy more space and can also be used as a top layer of protection for some of your valuables.

Invest in Wardrobe Boxes

Wardrobe boxes are tall packing boxes that have a hanging rod on top for you to hang your clothes. There are certain clothes, which you would want to hang on the hangers rather than fold them. At a price tag of around $40 per box, these boxes are the most convenient options to pack and unpack clothes that are ironed.

Use Cardboard Boxes

If you have any additional clothing, it is better to pack them in normal cardboard boxes. You may use most of them to cushion some of the delicate showpieces. However, make sure these are clothes you won’t use as soon as you shift as it could be hard to locate them. As you pack, keep checking the weight of the boxes, as you may not be able to handle them if they become too heavy.

Pack Shoes Separately From your Clothing

One of the essential packing tips of moving is to avoid packing shoes with your clothes. Though the shoes are clean, used shoes do have some odor. Hence, pack them either in shoeboxes or pack all shoes together in one carton box. Stuff them with paper or socks to retain their shapes.

Transport Your Clothing Without Packing it if you are making a Short Move

If you are making a local move, you can make a few trips in your car and transport you clothes without much packing. This way, you can arrange them directly into the wardrobes of your new home.

Though these are some of best ways of packing clothes for moving, the simplest way would be to use professional packers and movers, as they can take care of every step from the start till the end, while all you have to do is to sip your coffee, clarify your doubts, and take care of the basic needs like paper works and payments.
